With the tools he has, it is enough to stop Taylor.
Maybe ill feel differently if he shines against some good names but as of now he has proved himself worthy of a title shot, but definately not worthy of being compared to Tommy Hearns. Whenever a guy has a hight KO ratio like Pavlik before getting caught up in the hype I look at who hes faced. Im pretty sure that most of the top 10 Middleweights would also have KOd 90% of the guys Pavlik fought. im not saying his power is overrated, but I am saying that he might not be an effecive puncher at this level. Power means less as the skill level goes up because there are boxers that can take your power away from you.Quote:

There no similarities in my mind. Hearns was KO one punch type of guy, but from what I've seen of Pavlik against legit competition he is not. He's a solid puncher, but I don't think he hits anywhere near to as hard as Roy Jones Jr., Tommy Hearns, McClellan, Benn, Jackson, etc. Tommy had way more speed, way better boxing skills, but Pavlik is a better inside fighter which isn't saying, and probably has as good if not better a chin than Hearns.
Tommy did not take a punch exceptionally well...he was a bit chinny. Pavlik has exceptional power in both hand and exceptional work rate. Pavik is stronger physically, but that being said, he doesn't have nearly the speed or boxing skill that Hearns possessed. He could never outbox a slick fighter like Hearns did to Leonard for most of their fight.Quote:

And to answer someones question, yes, I think he'll eventually move up later in his career and even if he never wears the RING MW belt, I wouldn't be surprized if he cleans up the LW division in a few years.
Don't really see the similarities. Both had huge power but Hearns had more 1 punch power. Both were tough,Kelly has a granite chin.
Agrred. Although the 1 thing I will mention is Pavlik does hit really really hard and there's lots of those hard punches coming. HIs stamina must be amazing. The clips they were showing on the countdown to Pavlik Taylor of Pavlik KTFO guys in the amatuers was wow!Quote:
