Actually on watching the fight again (now my 3rd time!!) Im inclined to agree with you. Barrera was competing but never at any stage trying to completely win the fight...which is odd if you are seeing Barrera fight.Quote:

A weird fight and one that Im really not comfortable with. At least the Marquez fight saw a real live Barrera...here its as though he quietly slipped from view. I find that difficult.
Barrera played with caution. was focused on not make any major mistakes that would get him sparked . as opposed to looking for offensive oppertunites . can't blame Marco after watching the first match between the 2. .
one thing i liked about Barrera was the footwork,, at times it was brilliant , when Pac would set , Barrera would take on step back and piviot.. was very effective for evading the big pacman onslught .
when i think of great exciting matches in boxing over the last 15 or so years Barrera's name comes to mind He thrilled so many times, he has credit with me. 8)
Well said. His footwork was excellent in this fight. He fought in circles instead of simply moving in a straight line back and forth. But his hand speed and tentativeness cost him big. He wasn't sharp on his punches and Pac had too much speed for him. As far as HBO...they always go back and forth on jocking particular fighters (i personally think Steward is the best of that crew). Never been a fan of Lederman.Quote:

i find the showtime team to be the most objective.

I actually like Lampley. I haven't seen this broadcast yet, but I'm sure I will, Saturday at the latest. He is usually very pro-Barrera, so I'm surprised to hear this. (Anyone got a line on a download for the fight, by the way?) Lately, and oddly enough, I like Lennox Lewis, when he commentates. When he doesn't stutter, I think he knows his S*** and can be fairly articulate. Larry Merchant is undoubtedly battling senility, but he's good for a laugh.
The Showtime team I cannot watch at all. Back when Trinidad used to fight, the bias there was nauseating.
I disagree with you about Lederman i think for the most part his score cards are accurate but that damn Lampley some of the sh#t that comes out his mouth i can't help but to think that he is drunk most of the time. He also don't know what the f#ck he be talking about half the time.
I like Lampley for the most part, but I did think his anti-Barrera comments were over the top. And it was surprising, considering that Lampley has been so biased in favor of Barrera over the years.
Most great fighters don't go out on a high note, most go out in embarassing fashion. Barrera's effort was better than the final fights for a lot of other great fighters.
Well Said. CC To Ya! As long as this is IT for finale.Quote:
