Re: John Duddy v Kelly Pavlik in March at the Garden
Duddy has done more than alot of guys who have gotten shots. Prior to Pavliks win over Miranda, Duddy had a pretty much equal resume to Pavlik, other than Pavlik's better amature background. Like it or not, Duddy is a draw, and money talks. He is an exciting fighter and he's well marketed, a bit like a young Gatti at MW. He'll never be a top 5, but he can be a gatekeeper for the top level. I promise that Pavlik will make a heck of a lot more fighting Duddy at MSG on St Patricks day than he will fighting Strum or Abraham on Kaiser Wilhelm Day, or whatevery day the Germans like a to make a big party.
Duddy is going to lose, and Sturm and Abraham will still be around. Let the guy have a fairly easy defense that buys him a house and his kids college fund before he goes out and cleans up the division. Did PBF take this much heat for fighting Gatti?

F*** Pavlik if he takes this fight! Arthur Abraham, Felix Sturm, a rematch with Jermain...those are the fights to be made.
Duddy is undefeated but his biggest win was almost a loss to an ANCIENT Yory Boy Campas!
If Kelly wants someone to pad his record or take it easy with then John Duddy is still pretty far down the list
If anyone deserves an easy fight it should be Pavlik, But he is fighting an undefeated fighter instead.
Re: John Duddy v Kelly Pavlik in March at the Garden
The way things look it seems Taylor does not want a rematch which i can not blame him for and Duddy i do not know much about but a easy fight not that big of a deal but i would rather see him fight Abraham or Strum i do not think he should move up he should clear the division before moving
Re: John Duddy v Kelly Pavlik in March at the Garden
....I don't think Taylor wants a rematch at 160.....168 might be different but I doubt Pavlik will leave when he just won the title at 160

I would'nt leave 160lbs unless I just had to...as in could'nt trim down for it.

Totally agree.
Re: John Duddy v Kelly Pavlik in March at the Garden
Duddy couldn't even beat grandfather Luis Ramon Campas convincing he got a gift decision in that fight i thought Campas won it by 2 points when people like Eric Regan who is a journeyman shut out Campas Duddy vs Pavlik will be a slaughter.
Re: John Duddy v Kelly Pavlik in March at the Garden
pavlik wins by of course KO !!

Nah, he won that fight, by two points, for sure. That was not a gift decision. He gave way some rounds early, but he won the fight. Duddy let the fight get too close by making it a war, and the played in Yory Boy's strenghts, even at his age he bang on the inside and knows how to fight.
Still, he's going to get a beating, because he gets hit way too much and Pavlik will hit him harder than anybody has hit him before. Any Yory Boy rocked him a few times. When Pavlik hits him like that, it's going to be over.
Re: John Duddy v Kelly Pavlik in March at the Garden
This one's gonna be ugly, Duddy's just too easy to hit

Actually quite alot of people thought Campas won that fight 3 members here i know who think the same as me are Lords Gym, Violent Demise, CutMeMick, Recently Campas struggled with the journeyman off the contender Norberto Bravo and went 10 tough rounds with Norberto Bravo so that just goes to show you what sort of level Duddy is at getting gift off an old Luis Ramon Campas who was only ever goodish even in his prime.
Re: John Duddy v Kelly Pavlik in March at the Garden
it wasn't like it was a robbery, it was pretty close but I thought Yory boy should have got the decision. Duddy just has way too tough a time with guys like an old Yory boy and even Freddie Cuevas to make me think he has a chance in this one.

I think that I had Duddy by about a round or so, but I agree with what you say about Duddy having a hard time with guys he should beat if he wants to be world title class. However, he loves to go to the trenches, and does have a lot of drive and heart, but he is still (hopefully) a work in progress, but fighting Pavlik is way too soon for him.

Sure, some members think he got a gift. Some members also thought Oscar beat Floyd. Members disagree and see close fights differently all the time. There are plently of members who agree with me that Duddy won. If Duddy would have played for a safe win instead of going for a KO, he could have outpointed him easily. But that is what makes him a fun fighter to watch. And Campos who fought Bravo is year older and several hard fights fights deeper.
I personally think Yory Boy reached down deep on last time fought the best fight he could possibly fight. People use that fight to trash Duddy, but they don't give Campos enough credit for fighting above his head that night. He got a matchup that was favorable to him, and if he had beaten Duddy, it would have put him in a better position for good payday that he really deserves. He was a very simpathetic underdog, and a lot of people hate Duddy because his popularity excedes his talent. That, in my eyes, want to see the fight for Yory Boy. If you want to see a fight that Yory Boy got robbed, watch the Matt Vanda fight. That was robbery, pure and simple. And in his prime, Campos I would list as very good, a step up from "goodish". There was a time he was feared guy for a while, only the very best could beat him.
Duddy's biggest problem is that he has a bad case of Jermaine Taylor disease. He comes into the ring very hyper and he has a tendency to abandon his best weapon - the jab. All that body tension wastes energy and makes you more susceptable to damaging power punches. Say what you will about old as Yory Boy, but he fights relaxed and uses his energy efficiently. Unfortunately for Duddy, he lacks JT physical tools and defensive toolkit to overcome his shortcoming.
Re: John Duddy v Kelly Pavlik in March at the Garden
Im dissapointed that Pavlik is lined up to fight club fighter Duddy. Only cause iv read how Pavlik aims to unify...
I just read in Boxing News today that 'aparently' a fight with IBF champ Aurthur Abraham would be bad business ???
How is this ???
