Re: Friday Night's RBR: Commonwealth Super Bantams - Isaac Ward v Anyetei Laryea
Round 4:
Callaghan opens with a body shot, and some arm punches, but Munroe is throwing more of his own, with Munroe alternating nicely between head and body. Nice overhand right from Munroe. Callaghan with some body shots, but Callaghan takes more good shots, and has blood going into his eye from a cut on his scalp. Body shots and a left hook from Munroe. Munroe with some huge body shots, then a hook up top, and Callaghan clings on. Three body shots from Callaghan, but he's swinging wildly now. Body shot from Callaghan, but dropping his arm lets Munroe throw a fantastic right hook to the head. Rigth hook from Munroe, but a gentle flurry from Callaghan makes little impact.
Same again. 40-36
Re: Friday Night's RBR: Commonwealth Super Bantams - Isaac Ward v Anyetei Laryea
Round 5:
Munroe doing werll enough, and then a good straight left. Callaghan with a flurry of body shots, but is still not putting forward much power in them. Munroe doing well with body shots again, but Callaghan with two morebody shots of his own. Munroe with two left hooks and a hard right to the body, and is coming forward mercilessly. Callaghan is shipping shots upstairs and down, and not throwing too much back, but whilst Callaghan is doing enough to stay in the fight, he's not doing any more. Munroe's body shots are remarkable in volume and power, and Callaghan takes another straight rigth to the face. Munroe must be thinking what it will take to put this guy down.
Munroe's shutout continues.
50-45
Re: Friday Night's RBR: Commonwealth Super Bantams - Isaac Ward v Anyetei Laryea
Round 6:
Callaghan's coach tells him he has one more round to show he's got something, otherwise he'll be withdrawn. probably right for me. Callaghan with a left to the body, but Munroe is sstill throwing the volume and accuracy of punches, but Callaghan comes forward with some wild swings to the body. Munroe with a short flurry of hooks, before Callaghan lands andother body shot. He's definitely a trier. Munroe a little cockier now, picking his shots, with good jabs. Callaghan throws a body shot and a hook, but is shipping more of them again. Callaghan still looking bloodied, and Munroe throwing his jabs in a indomitable fashion now, not suffering much. Callaghan comes forward with two more body shots. Munroe throws more again, with an uppercut and a couple of body shots.
60-54 Callaghan
Callaghan's corner decide to pull him out, the best decision for all parties.
Re: Derry Matthews v Matthew Marsh - WBU Featherweight Title RBR - 10pm GMT Satu
OK, so I'm closing this RBR up for the evening, not much else of interest on the undercard to be honest. Tomorrow's boxing is coming from York Hall in Bethnal Green, with Derry Matthews defending his title against the novice but undefeated Matthew Marsh. The only fight of interest on the undercard sees Ricky Burns v Frederic Bonifai as Burns again looks to come back. See you all tomorrow, when more beer and whisky will be ready. ;)

Naah, it's Setanta Sports mate. To be honest with you, the show is starting at 7.30pm, so I'm not sure what time Matthews v Marsh will actually be on TV. If it's on before the rugby finishes, then the RBR goes down the pan I'm afraid.
Re: Derry Matthews v Matthew Marsh - WBU Featherweight Title RBR - Cancelled
Sorry guys, I just can barely tear my eyes away from the rugby. Just checked, and it looked like the fight is already well under way...hopefully i'll pop in a report later.

Re: Derry Matthews v Matthew Marsh - WBU Featherweight Title RBR - Cancelled
Matthews ended up getting an 11th round stoppage...I caught the end of the fight, and if that is what the rest of the fight was like, then I have no doubt Matthews was at his usual dirty best.
From what I saw he was constantly pushing his head and grinding it against Marsh's face, but when it came, it was an impressive flurry of big damaging hooks, uppercuts, and after about 30 seconds relentless barrage Marsh's corner threw the towel in. As for most of Matthews' opponents, Marsh fit the bill being shorter and lighter, and although he got a defeat, I'm sure he'll have learnt plenty about the darker arts in the boxing ring.

I hate Matthew's, he's a typical dirty scouse twat. Probably goes on the rob between fights too. >:mad
