There are some fighters who don't do the heavybag, and I can't imagine why. :dontknow:
clubber, you've never even WORN boxing gloves.
Oh yes I have. I shadowbox and punch the heavybag a good bit, although I'll get into it for a couple of weeks then slack off for a couple of months, so I never get any better. :banghead: (I have a pair of bag gloves for the bag and boxing gloves for the shadowboxing. ;D :fyou:
Assuming the goal is boxing competitively, you have good coaches who know how to help you make the most of it, it's controlled and you have a few decent sparring partners I'd choose sparring.
Also assuming you can only choose one of the options there.
There is no greater exercise than sparring done properly.
While I enjoy all aspects of training, I feel that sparring is the most effective. Controlled sparring allows you to get a feel for footwork, and measure the distance of your punches against a human opponent. I feel there is no better way to train, but I also feel it should not be overused.
Look Listen and learn, Think and be creative be Balanced in action and Thought ;).
