I feel for Taylor to show everybody that he is a world class champion, he needs to get in a big knockout and i feel this fight against Lorenzo could prove that. He knows he has to not take those stiff jabs like he did against Pavlik and keep away from those bloody powerfull right hands. I believe that the knockout came when he took a hard jab, you could see that Taylor didnt like that at all and he payed for it by getting stopped.
I believe by changing his game plan slightly and just trying to outwork and just keeping him away. I feel Taylor knows how to change this around to get the win, i just feel he was a good champion despite the critisim and i feel if he can beat hopkins, one of the best of all time, he can get a plan together to beat Pavlik.
No disrespect intended Tam, but I don't know how he couldn't have had himself hyped for the fight ??? If he couldn't, well he should be hyped now for a rematch, but seems he doesn't want one. Yeah Taylor knew how to put him on the ground, thanks in part also to Kelly making giggly faces at him and basically leaving the door open for JT to put him down. But he sure didn't know how to keep him on the ground, and couldn't come close to doing it again the remainder of the fight. People forget that even though JT can learn from his mistakes in this fight and rematch better, so too can Pavlik learn from his errors and come back better. It goes both ways. And which one is going to keep his head on right when it actually matters??? My guess is Pavlik.
Well i feel Taylor had so much critisism on his back and i just feel he was going downwards from it and not acting on it because hes taken so much abuse. I think after beating Bhop everybody expects so much from him and i feel its like a dark shadow over him that fight, that he had to live up to it or he would pay the price by getting the stick from everybody. But i feel being stopped by a hungry fighter was a good thing for taylor because he can approach his next fights like it can happen again, i think it will add to his hunger to rematch with pavlik and beat him. Although so your all saying he doesnt want it, well one day i think he should to show us he is of championship status. Lets just get behind him and hope he gets some decent wins behind his belt.
I do agree, JT did have alot of criticism riding his shoulders and it probably hurt his pride. But he got away from his hometown and got to train in peace and quiet with a great trainer and really had all the benefits to be able to get his head on for this fight. I wonder sometimes if Manny didn't put too much confidence in Taylor with the way he talked about Pavlik basically being an advanced journeyman. Either way, they shouldn't have done the same thing with Pavlik as Miranda did, and that's forget you got a hungry power punching machine in front of you. I always liked Taylor and hope he does well. But all excuses aside, if he can't get hyped for a rematch and learn from his mistakes after the last time, he's seriously fwocked. Kelly will brutalize him if Jermaine comes into a rematch with doubts about himself. JMHO
Re: Taylor may take interim fight before Pavlik rematch: Giovanni Lorenzo interested
Bad choice for a tune-up, he better not underestimate Lorenzo like he did Pavlik, because IMO Lorenzo has equal if not more power than Pavlik.

Taylor was more impressive in Pavlik fight than he was in fights with Hopkins, Wright, Ouma, Spinks, Taylor was very sharp i was actually surprised how good he looked because i hadn't seen him that good in a long time.
Just because he beat Hopkins doesn't mean he can beat Pavlik styles make fights Hopkins was throwing very low output in punches something Pavlik is totally opposite to and Hopkins isn't really a devasting puncher something Pavlik is and also Pavlik has very good jab that he stuck in Taylor's face and was constantly snapping Taylor's head back with it.
I feel he just couldnt hype himself for the fight and really didnt see that Pavlik would be a fighter that he would lose to. Although we knew he was a big name, i for one thought that Taylor would beat him. He simply couldnt finish him off, but he knows how to hurt and put him on the mat.
Couldn't hype himself ?? he come out swinging straight away he looked very pumped up for the fight i don't understand what you mean by that comment and he put Pavlik down because Pavlik put his hands down and made silly face trying to show he wasn't hurt that was silly from Pavil and its something he won't do again Taylor hit Pavlik with his best shots and could not finish him that will be in the back of his mind where as when Pavlik had his chance he finished Taylor straight away big difference.
He knows he has to not take those stiff jabs like he did against Pavlik and keep away from those bloody powerfull right hands. I believe that the knockout came when he took a hard jab, you could see that Taylor didnt like that at all and he payed for it by getting stopped.
Pavlik has longer reach so he will catch Taylor with the jab regardless because of the extra reach in the jab he can catch Taylor constantly on the counter so Taylor will not be able to stop that.
And as for what hurt Taylor it was the first right hand that had him out on his feet the second right hand sent him into the corner and Pavlik landed barrage of punches but the punch that set it all up was the first right hand.

He isn't going to outwork Pavlik no way and how can Taylor keep Pavlik away ?? Pavlik keeps coming right at Taylor using the jab its not as simple as your saying he has to get Pavlik's respect and by doing that he has to risk getting caught with counter shots from Pavlik he can't stay away unless he puts hurt on Pavlik and like i said theres always the risk of getting caught on the counter.
And as for Hopkins comment i will copy and paste what i said earlier.

Good analysing for the defending of Pavlik CC. But i just feel that if he had faught Pavlik straight after Hopkins, people wouldnt have all of this pressure on Taylor saying that he is weak and he was lucky to beat spinks, ouma etc. I feel the pressure was a bit factor of the fight on him and when he knew he was hurt that was it, it all ended for taylor. If he shows that he is a champion deep down he can surely recover from this. Your making it sound like it was an easy thing for taylor to beat hopkins, when i dont agree with that ( i know your not saujng it litaraly but still he was the best) but i do agree that he throws more, but being the champion you have to take this on board, and i feel if he had another shot at doing that he could certainly impove from his last attempt.
I know Pavlik is also a great champion and i have a lot of respect for him, but i believe he is beatable. Its really hard to explain it, but i just feel that taylor can prove again that he is the best. It will be hard be i know he can do it.

But don't you think it was the opposite ?? that Taylor was so fired up and sick of the crictism that he wanted to prove to the world ?? i don't think Taylor looked pressured he looked very fired up imo and looked very sharp i was impressed with Taylor the thing with Taylor, Tam and he has had this for awhile even in the Hopkins fight is that he has nervous energy and it burns his energy quickly and he needs to learn to control himself because if you notice in Hopkins fight they wern't fought at a high pace but he gased out thats because of the nervous energy because there is nothing wrong with him physically he is always in good shape.

What im saying is that styles make fights and Hopkins did not pressure Taylor and does not have the threat of a one punch KO power like Pavlik does of course Hopkins is great fighter i would be a fool to say different but Pavlik always has the style to trouble Taylor he may not be as skilled as Taylor technically but he has the style to beat him more often than not.
I know Pavlik is also a great champion and i have a lot of respect for him, but i believe he is beatable. He is beatable but it will take a hell of a boxer to beat him and they will have to be on there best night to do it and as for Calzaghe vs Pavlik i would give Pavlik a chance in that fight Calzaghe in the past has struggled with fighters who have good right hands and Calzaghe can't seem to stop right hands look at the Reid fight for example he was caught over and over with right hands and if Pavlik caught Calzaghe with even half of the right hands Reid caught him with Calzaghe would of been stopped so i would give Pavlik a shot in that right based on how good his right hand is and based on how good his jab is and he has pretty decent defense aswell.
Hopkins vs Pavlik im not so sure because Hopkins doesn't throw nearly enough punches to keep Pavlik off but also Hopkins is very smart fighter and can rough you up on inside that would be interesting one.
Re: Taylor may take interim fight before Pavlik rematch: Giovanni Lorenzo intere
Taylor was losing that fight from the outset. After the first round I was convinced Taylor was getting ko'd. It looked to me like a repeat of the Miranda fight. Pavlik was landing more and harder, although taking some good ones also. Then the second, obviously I thought Pavlik was done. The first shot that wobbled him, then being ignorant and trying to make like it didn't hurt and make faces got him hit several more times which really hurt him. I was very impressed with his ability to recover and dominate the rest of the fight.
In my opinion Pavlik won every round except the 2nd. He was walking Taylor down and landing hard jabs and straight rights. The result was inevitable in my opinion. I don't think Taylor wins a rematch. I think it's Pavlik who knows he can be hurt now and doesn't get silly when he gets hit.

Seems like alot of people have different views on the fight i remember few guys on here had Taylor winning by 3 rounds and you had Pavlik winning every round except 2nd i personally had Pavlik up by 1 round.

Im not sure about that really, he did take an awful lot of stick, and i really would feel that deep down it would have got to him because he knows he is of world class and he couldnt prove it against the difficult fighters, although i still feel he did win against spinks and ouma. A guy like pavlik who could knock out miranda, is certainly a large force but taylor i do admit looked tierd, he needs to get around that or he will get KTFO again. But as ive said before to prove he is of championship status he needs to recover from this and build up at 168 for the rematch against pavlik ( if pavlik and taylor both win thier next fights!)
yes i can agree pavlik does have that come forward style to knock out taylor and win the fight, but its in taylors mind to think of a way round this. I dont no how he can do it, but im thinking a lot of countering, high punch rate, would surely see off a come forward fighter ?
Well if there is a guy to throw a lot of punches back the man is JC, i hope if he can get past kessler he can fight pavlik, that would be a fight!

He did ok, but he was getting tierd and he was taking punches which i think were avoidable. I think as soon as he felt pavliks power proparly he gave up and thats what the sad thing was about it.

When is last time you see Taylor throw that many punches and look as sharp as he did in Pavlik fight ?? because he didn't show me that in any other of his championship fights and Taylor has always gased out in fights because of the nervous energy he has he needs to learn to control himself and i didn't think Taylor give up at all i think he was still trying his hardest its just the punches he took at the end his body couldn't take no more but there was still no quit in him he still tried to stay up for aslong as he could until finally he crumbled to the canvas in the corner and i don't think Taylor could avoid Pavlik's jab either because Pavlik will always catch Taylor because he has longer reach and can always catch Taylor on the counter.

He looked sharp in the winky fight IMO
