nope because the shot that hurt him caught him high on the temple so that makes him temple-ey....nothing to do with his actual chin.

Do not agree with earlier posts that state Kahn is cocky. I think is attitude is one of his positives. To support earlier posts, I just think that the press have gone completely over the top with him. Then again, this is not Kahn's fault, and the press coverage seems worse because the national press in Britain give so little space to boxing anyway. True boxing fans, I am sure , would like to see more about other fighters at British, European and world level in the papers; maybe negativity towards the press finds its way to Kahn. That said, can't see him winning a world title.

because he believed in himself (which is obviously cockiness) i presume....and he wanted to do it it his own way.....promote his own fights etc...bit silly.

i think he's overated and theres something about his dad i just dont like. so i hope he gets knocked out some time soon.

Well, I can't help thinking that race IS something to do with it.
Pakistanis are quite recent immigrants to Britain, so they tend to be poorer and perhaps not as well educated as some of the other immigrant groups, like Indians say. That means that there is some tension in the areas where they live with the other communities in the area.
In this day and age, unfortunately, it doesn't help that they are muslim .... and the British pakistani youth are an easy target for radicalisation by some extremist organisations (because they are poor and disaffected). Pakistanis also retain striong ties with Pakistan, even if they have been in Britain a long time (like the Chinese do with China), they stick together and don't integrate well and that seems to be the source of some conflict too.
It's a shame, as I know loys of Pakistanis, but people tend to use stereotypes and generalisations about their entire community - and there are always a few arseholes on both sides to stir up trouble.
It's a shame, as Khan seems like a nice lad, dedicated and talented ... and it's not his fault.

Yeah, I agree completely with you Saddo, this has nothing to do with race it is purely that Khan can be cocky at times, and there is an awful lot of hype about him which naturally means jealousy. Hopefully he'll develop the defence to protect that chin and at least compete at proper international level.

Being a Yank...I probably shouldn't comment...but I kinda have to.
First & foremost...the kid's a Brit & it's ridiculous to even bring race up due to the tone of his skin or where his parents sprouted from. If Khan's shacked up in Brit-land then odds are he's Brit-land citi-zan...he fights for Brit-land & resides there...he is British.
Honestly...I have never heard anyone say that they wanted to see him lose...but maybe I just wasnt listening enough. The thing is...he has a right to be cocky. Look what he's done & how old he is.
I mean youv'e got greatness thrust upon you in your game, your'e being pimped by the biggest pimp in the game, & your'e being groomed to be the highest paid trick on the street...nothing wrong with having some princess like qualities.

Have to agree, it`s hard to talk about Khan without his race being mentioned. While I actually like the lad, the fact that he is of Pakistani decent has made him a more public figure that can`t really be denied. Whilst any fighter getting a silver at the Olympics aged 17 deserves praise and attention, Khans race made him an even more focal figure. There have been numerous debates in England as to why there are no Asian (Pakistan, India, Bangladesh) footballers, it`s just as rare to see Asian boxers.
There used to be a footballer at Leeds called Harpal Singh who many people thought would be the first British Asian to make an impact, and was often in magazines etc but unfortunately he didn`t make it. Until British Asians become a regular sight in sport (excluding cricket) then unfortunately their race will always be brought into conversation.

Khan has got the attention and hype because of what he achieved in the Olympics and as Audley Harrison has learned he can milk that attention and publicity which would have been given to any white fighter who had achieved the same.
