Why get over it? I liked Howard when he called boxing matches, but did not like him as much when he did football games. Sorta felt like he was turning his back on the sport. Just was not same.
Theres stuff to teach in those fights as well,but it feels like someones stomping around in my childhood when I play those fights for too many peopleQuote:

Cosell did call boxing so well, so dramatically. That being said, my first boxing memory was watching a young Benitez give a young Leonard all he could handle. Cosell called that fight and I watch it every so often, just to hear Cosell's accolades for both fighters.
Watching the original "Friday Night Fights" with my dad in the mid 1950's.
Watching Jim Corrbat knock out John L. Sullivan. It was unbelievable. I telegraphed all my friends immediately.
My dad extolling the virtues of Bob Foster and always cheering for Jerry Quarry. I was very young, around 4 or 5.
Also...strapping on head gear for the first time....the fear in my stomach!!!!
I'm sure I had seen some fights before, but the one I remember real clearly is Tyson - Spinks.
My older brother actually went to the kitchen to get some beers for him and my dad and you all know what happend. He couldn't believe it was already over by the time he got back.
When Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfeilds ear off i remember my parents freaking out and all the cops going into the ring
My earliest memories are the Fenech v Nelson fights where Jeff was robbed in the first but destroyed in the second.
I remember Nigel Benn and Iron Barkley watching that with my Dad sort of got me hooked, but all my dads family have always been into boxing they were all big Mcguigen fans.
