I dont hate Pavlik. If you read my posts I was very impressed with him. Weight drained and sick or not, I dont know If Miranda could have beaten Pavlik that night.
I didnt do this to his hand. I just posted the news. If anything I should be getting CC'd for posting it!
I just think (and most people seem to agree) that he IS the champ (and well derserved) and he needs to protect himself as much as possible. He IS stupid to do anything that could cause him injury. You dont agree?
If I found out Miranda fell off a ladder while trimming his tree I would call him a freakin idiot too!

Akron, I don't see Pantera hating on this guy. Hell, Pavlik is my favorite fighter and I called him an idiot. I think if someone had found this article before Pantera, they would have posed it 1st. Whether Pantera likes Pavlik or not, it didn't show in his post. It seems Pav's a good, working class guy, but when you're the champ and probably have a busy year in 2008, you should probably be a bit more careful with the tools that made you champ.
Pavlik Gets 100 Stiches in Hand - Not Fighting in Feb!
Re: Pavlik needs 100 stitches in his hand - What an idiot!
I'm sure these stitches have been done with the finest of thread.
I think when you guys read '100 Stitches' you guys are thinking of a large cut.
What you should be asking is what kind of stitching did they use?
Children that are born with 'Cleft' on the norm get about 9 to 12 stitches in an avg. length of about 5/8".
So the cut might not be a deep nore a long cut, it's just that the stiching was done very fine.
By the way southakron I to don't think Pantera hates Pavlik. He might hold a grudge on him or something but hate. I don't think so.
Re: Pavlik needs 100 stitches in his hand - What an idiot!
let me get this ... he is fixing a window at home it shatters, how is he an idiot ? im lost on that comment. i think it good to see someone with money in the pocket , who aint afraid to do some labor around the house. good work ethic keeps you hard...when you start hiring everything done you get soft mentally lazy and it bleeds into the fabric that makes you that champion.. next thing you know , your tits up next match .
Re: Pavlik Gets 100 Stiches in Hand - Not Fighting in Feb!
I got nothing wrong with him doing a little this and that around that house. But who knows what the true story is. For a glass to shatter a cause such injury, there must of been a moment when the average Joe would have thought to himself, "should I really be doing this?"
There has been many times that thought has gone through my head doing 'extended' home choars (electricity, etc). And if my hands were golden like Pavlik's, I think I would hold back on any risks!

Honestly...shit like this makes me like Pavlik even more...not the fact that he's a bungler & injured himself pulling what many here seem to think a "remedial task" but the fact that he's not sitting around on his ass soaking up championship dollars or out being a total douche bag like most boxers these days.

No disrespect Pantera...I aint jumpin on ya...but I would say that you/we would have to walk in Pavlik's shoes. Pavlik's been a poor boy all his life. He's done his own shit & lived his own way & he aint gonna change.
I respect that more than him having someone else do his tasks for him.
You could be changing a light bulb from a chair & fall & crack your wrist or break an arm...shit happens...& trust me...no matter who I am or how big of a bank draft I got...I'll be changin my own bulbs & if I felt that I had the knowledge...fixing me own windows.

Again...can't live your life that way if you haven't been brought up like that.
Money doesn't change everyone...& whether or not Pavlik wasn't thinking...or it was a freak accident...or as someone else so...gracefully pointed out : he's not the brightest light in the sky...it's just one of those things.
Other sport stars do things that put them more at risk than home tasks.
Re: Pavlik Gets 100 Stiches in Hand - Not Fighting in Feb!
So he goofed up and injured himself a bit. He will be fine. It happens to all of us.
Now if I hear reports next week that he joined a bull riding rodeo circuit, I will then seriously start to question his actions! ;D
Re: Pavlik Gets 100 Stiches in Hand - Not Fighting in Feb!
As long as he doesn't end up needing that many stitches after a fight (like gatti,) i don't see something like this being in any way detrimental to his career

It has nothing to do with being wealthy. And again, I got no idea what it was he was doing, so maybe you are right, maybe it was an everyday home maintenance that went real bad, real real bad! But if there was any risk in what he was doing, at his level in boxing he should have taken some precautions. He is on the top of boxing right now and his hands are making him millions. If it were me, yea, I would be making some life changes and protecting those hands. Change your own light bulbs is fine. But putting a ladder on top of a table to get to the light bulb, well, that may be good for you Wacko, but I would hope a guy like Pavlik would draw the line.
Re: Pavlik Gets 100 Stiches in Hand - Not Fighting in Feb!
Pretty bad news for pavlik not near as dumb as mundine's choice or contact lens cleaner that has seriously affected his career....these guys just have to be smarter.

Now who said anything about putting a ladder on top of a table?!?!?
That truly would be Wacko!
