Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Looks like Froch has deluded a few people in to believing him
I heard a joke today that reminded me of froch
A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients."
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree.
Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.
MORAL OF THE STORY:
Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.
;D
Hmm, Carl aint even anywhere near the top though
Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
You will see tommorow Ross how good CF actually is. I dont understand why you think he has bullshitted, what has he bullshited about ??? Hes a decent fighter and he has proved that by stopping his last fighters and looking good doing it. I dont see your major problem with him...
Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Its not just him but people like yourself who harp on about these great qualitys he has which in reality are still unknown quantitys, like how good his chin is (who is the big puncher that tested it ?)
Ii remember in the back of the sun or mirror only 1 or 2 years in to his pro career how he is the best Bbritish sportsperson around and he actually mentioned how he is better in his field than David Beckham in his and Joe Calzaghe, the bloke has been deluding himself and his blind followers since, that statement turned me off him big time.
I also remember his little fanfare with Hennesey when he made his debut about how he is boxings new star, well 6 years later and he still aint shining, I think ive seen all his fights and have to say he is outjabbed easy, beaten to the punch, his power has gotten him out of trouble because people like Magee and Dodson were outboxing him, also that bloke from canada was as well but these are fighters who have been stopped before, he hasnt really proved his power until he fights and beats an undefeated prospect with ambition in his own weight class, even little Ruben Groenewald was stopped prematurly but he was giving Frch a good argument even though he is a career light middle.

Well he is my favourite fighter so im not really going to give a good account of him. I do feel his progess may have been slow, but now the devision is wide open and the belts need picking up again. He is growing with age, and getting more experience and looking sharper and more powerful. This will be Reids last ever fight because he is going to get stopped.
He wasnt getting outboxed in those fights to be honest, he fights the counter fight and was looking for the gaps. He bloody got them hard as well and left both men on the mat. The scorecards for the maggee fight doesnt suggest he was getting outboxed...

He's fighting an ancient ex-porn actor who's retiring after the fight. Looking really good against tomato cans and looking really good against an actual really good fighter are two different things.

I don't mean to rain on your parade Tam, but Froch is one of the biggest bullsh**ters in British boxing.

each one has a few examples of Froch bigging himself up more than is justified by his career so far. No doubt he's good, but he's got a big mouth and it doesn't earn him too many friends. However, as to your other question it is live on sky tomorrow night. And i'll see you here afterwards to dissect the performance. ;)

Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Much as I hate to say it I think CF is gonna smash Reid worse than Lacy, then imagine the shit he'll be coming out with. ::**
Reid is past it would have been an excellent matchup if they could have met both in good nick but i think when reid takes a couple of shots he'll think" fuck this for a game, I'm retiring anyway after tonight"

Why does he chat shit ? Because he calls out Calzaghe a lot ? its not really chatting shit, its a belief that he wants to fight him. And yes i agree at this momment in time he doesnt deserve to fight him, but wins via knockout and getting some good ones after that will mean he is the man to beat at 168.

Barring last time out, Froch seems to be a slow starter, i'll be surprised if he bombs Reid out early (problem is, so what if he does?) - Reid has always had a solid chin and can make fights ugly, ugly, ugly.. which this might become before Reid's corner stop it, late, while he's on his stool.
Yeah i can see it going along those lines too.
Not really any room for an upset but if Mathew Barney could spoil....
Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Little pic form the weigh in. ;D
Re: British Super Middleweight Title RBR - Carl Froch v Robin Reid
Reid looks to be pretty muscular in that one, but then again Froch has always been lean at the weight. Also, now that it has been announced that Haye is going to be fighting on Saturday night, and it'll be screened on Setanta, I might do a RBR for that one too as an appetiser to the Cotto-Mosley bout.

Gotdam right Mr. Layer of Lambs...it was right there in front of your Super RBR eyes...as my SASC (Souther As Shit Compatriot) Lyle would say "If'n it were a snake...it'd bitcha!"
Heh heh heh.
