You were coming out with this bullshit last time, without actully ever seeing him fight? Still the same is it?
no, i looked at his record and said his opposition was shitty, and that he would get destroyed , i never said HE was shitty, just that he hadnt fought anyone to give reason to believe he had a legitimate chance of winning, what i saw in that fight was the WORST form i have EVER seen in a title fight

Hasim Rahman, Lovemore N'dou, Carlos Maussa, Malcolm Klassen, Silvio Branco. We've had plenty of worse fighters holding world belts. When it comes to biased posters...you're up there with Royal son. :sadclick:
none of them are half as bad, you guys are seriously blinded by nationalism if you dont see how bad this guy is, his form is embarrassing

I'd much ather see him fight Demetrius Hopkins
The thing is, I think Rees has stumbled into this title a little prematurely, and still has some work developing to do to be a decent champion, so going for the harder fights straight away would be a little suicidal on his part, so beating some contenders (maybe there was a pun intended) before some really big fights, like D-Hop, would probably be best for him.
If you actually watched the Forbes D-Hop fight you'd know that Forbes won that fight by a country mile. He won at least 9 rounds on my card he completely dominated.
He followed it up with a win over former super prospect Bojado as well so right now I'd say aside from Malignaggi and Hatton Forbes is the best fighter at 140 right now.
I'm suprised it's happening but Forbes will romp to an easy win if it happens. He'll completely outclass Rees although whether he will get the decision is another thing entirely. ::**

I know, nobody likes a champ with an 0....cause that's just insulting to other champs right? In his five fights since returning from suspension, he's beaten the WBA title holder (comprehensively), one guy who was a decent British contender and three warm-up, keep-busy opponents. I don't see that any worse than Shannon Briggs' bum of the month keep busy fights until he got a world title shot.
I'm not proclaiming him to be Ricky Hatton or Muhammad Ali or anything, but I think you're just exaggarating because you don't like British fighters. For example, how can he be the worst fighter to ever hold the belt when he outpointed the champion so comprehensively.
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
Souleymane M'baye was a decent fighter. But that's about it. Beating him can only carry you so far. The records of the other opponents Rees has beaten are indeed terrible.

well yeh
that was why it was such a shock that he got the title shot and the win.
he'l lose to pretty much any half decent challenger
but good on the little man for winning the title in the 1st place.

i dont hate british fighters, hatton is the man, and he beat mbaye cuz mbaye didnt do shit, its got nothing to do with who he has fought, that was only the reason i doubted him before i saw him, he has HORRIBLE form, and thats something that i refuse to overlook, its the main reason i think calzaghe is so shitty, rees has possibly the worst form ive ever seen
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
You're being one-eyed about this though Sal, I mean look at Demetrius Hopkins' form...he's got maybe three decent fighters on his record, so if we're going strictly on form I don't think Hopkins warrants a shot at the title. FFS, how on earth did he get a world title eliminator with a guy 23-10-3....And as for Forbes, before he ended up on TV he was fighting guys with shitty records too, and with two defeats in his last three, maybe he shouldn't be getting a shot either.
Rees was lucky to get his shot, but if you refuse to overlook form with Rees, you got to apply the same filters to future challengers too.
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
I agree with SalTheButcher and Bilbo spot on you guys.
Rees is shit and will get KNFO by any half decent fighter. ;D

AH
theres a miscommunication here
your thinking of "form" in the british sense
im using the word to refer to the punching form, how good his punches are, how well he throws different punches, his ability to get power out of his shots not based on strength, i feel he has the worst from ive ever seen
Re: Forbes Vs Rees --- In The Works!
HaHa CC Sal The only reason Gavin beat M'Baye is M'baye is an old man who was not arsed about world titles and shit, you seen it in his fight before Rees against Kotelnik he did'nt want to be there and looked awful but I admit I do admire Forbes he is a class act and would easily beat Gavin Rees.
By the way on the 9th of March 04 Gavin Rees fought Carl Allen then with a record of 21-0 while Allen was 18-36-5 and Rees got KNOCKED DOWN HAHAHAHAHAHA
WORLD CHAMP MY FUCKIN ARSE ;D

I just think that anyone who goes in against Rees is going to have to work hard, cause Rees will outwork a lot of fighters After all, he's probably not got the power and the technique to floor guys at light-welterweight, but he is going to work hard for 12 rounds and land some punches in every round.
