Agreed Mate....Patterson is forgot about often and you are right most people who think of him think of the Liston losses...Floyd was a greatly skilled fighter who had a big heart...and deserves more attention then what he gets...Ezzard Charles also falls into that catagory...he is often lost in the shuffle of time between Louis and Marciano
Re: Best Heavyweights form 1900s to 1950s
Yea but then people for get about at the age at 36 he gave Rocky his hardest fight and that says something.

Patterson would of been one of the greatest Lightheavyweights or Cruiserweights imo.
Re: Best Heavyweights form 1900s to 1950s
Wonder what would of happen if Patterson fought Rocky i think he give him trouble but rocky would knock him out Patterson chin was pretty weak.

Yes he would have Patterson did have glass chin at Heavyweight but he also had amazing heart which is sometimes overlooked he got knocked down 7 times against Ingemar and kept trying to get up that takes alot of heart.

I pretty much go with Micks list just a slightly different order
#1-Jack Johnson...CC For having Jack at #1 Mick People tend to forget what a great fighter he was...The guy could do it all
2. Louis
3.Dempsey
4.Marciano
5.Jersey Joe
6.Ezzard Charles
7.Gene Tunney
8.Max Baher
9.Max Schmeling
10.Jim Braddock
Floyd Came after Marciano and IMO after 1955 we are getting into a new era
Johnson is one of the few, that could fight in any era you care to name
Re: Best Heavyweights form 1900s to 1950s
Johnson, Louis and Tunney i think were years ahead of there times when they fought.
