Tito took too long to get started and he got hit too much i would be surprised if he made it past 5.Quote:

I'd give Gatti a better shot at beating Mayweather in a rematch than Tito beating Hearns. Tito's a great fighter, no doubt. But Hearns was GREAT. There's not a WW out there today who could beat prime Hearns at that weight, IMO...Mayweather included. But that's the great thing about hypothetical matchups - we'll never know ;D
Hearns was a guy that could be hurt, but he was hurt by fighters of a better pedigree in my opinion. He fought as far North as cruiser (a division in which he didn get ko'd!)
Hearns was an incredibly accurate puncher who started fights at pace (boxing or brawling he always left the blocks quick) His height coupled with that straight right hand was an incredibly efficient set up at welter and it would see him sweep aside many welters including trinidad
Hearns was significantly more powerful than Titio at welterweight, possesing a more imposing physique and reach. He was also a superior boxer, even to the point of being able to out box SRL. Tito in contrast was a one-trick pony, unable toc hange styles when needed...thus he was exposed by ODLH, and Hopkins followed that blueprint to its conclusion. But Tito was a well-schooled conventional forward fighter with great power. Hearn's chin would be the X factor.
People forget just how imposing Hearns was at welterweight up until he met Leonard. Since Leonard was the golden boy, people assume he was favored in that fight. He was not. Boxing experts were picking Hearns and the Vegas betting odds turned to Hearns as the fight approached. Due to his power, he had an aura of invincibility that only great punchers (like Tyson) take on until they are...well...beaten. At that point, his frail chin was not known, and he was so feared that people accused Leonard of dodging him.
This pretext makes SRL's victory all the more impressive.
Hearns speed, power and reach would be the perfect foil to beat Trinidad. Hearns would be all wrong for Tito and stop him in the 4th.
I can see Tito hurting Hearns and then Hearns coming back to KTFO Tito. BOTH were legends at 147. Ridiculously powerful, good jabs,I just feel Hearns was the more powerful, faster fighter. One thing though,Tito had Round 2 knockdown syndrome, except,if Hearns put him down in Round 2,there would be NO WAY he would survive.

I'm quite fond of Trinidad and I do agree with the oucome Gamo, but I actually don't see Trinidad being too succesful at all.
I feel in Trinidad wright (past his prime i know) Tito was kept off balance and unco-ordinated by Winky's jab all night. Tommy had a fantastic long jab that i feel would have done the same i.e. putting Tito off balance and lowering his punch output consideerably.
In short Hearns would use his reach and skills to prevent engaging Trinida keep him at arms reach and set him up for the right cross.
So i essence I agree with all you said apart from Trindad having his own successes :(
no one would KO Tito @ WW. It would be a hard fight but that would be it. They will both respect each other.
Tito's fall went to test waters out of his league(160) and even so he did pretty good.
Tommy is one of the great but at WW so was TITO.
ANd Tell me how would Tommy would have done against a prime ODLH?
Puya i never questioned Tito's greatness, but to say that he couldn't be stopped at Welter is not only inaccurate it's biased and just a result of wishful thinking. A great fighter no doubt but certainly not infallible.Quote:

IN the B-Hop fight he hit Tito with a lot of hard Punches and Tito kept coming forward and if he was that chinny explain how he got up so fast or why he was never wobble. I dare you to shoe me a Video of Tito been wobble by anyone at WW
Sorry but I will never settle when people write TITO off in the WW div even if it was against Hearns
I dare you to show me a post written by me where i call Tito chinny!
Unrelated question; May i ask you, how do you rate Fernando Vargas as a puncher?
Good, but certainly not devastating? He wobbled Tito a number of times. However I feel that this is not as a result of Tito's lack of durability but moreso a result of his limited defense.
The same limited defense which would be exploited by the 6'2'' Tommy Hearns who would find Tito's skull with that Right cross. The right cross that felled Duran, Cuevas and countless others. It is irrelevant that Tito had a decent to good chin. It is an inevitable scientific equation. The human skull suffers the impact of a punch of that force enough times and the brain willorder the body into recovery mode. KO.

There is no doubt that in a one to one match up. Hearns could beat any WW in any era. Yes that includes Robbinson, Armstrong and all those other greats. He would've beaten Leonard if it had been a 12 round fight.
But you also have to remember that Tito at WW was of the same pedigree (despite what one of the posters said). He, like Hearns, was a monster at that weight. His punching power at the time was at the very least comparable to Hearns. Not to mention he never lossed a fight at WW so it is hard to go against him. The only man to give him a close fight fought in a way that Hearns would never fight so we can't use that against Tito.
Yes, Hearns would most likely beat Tito. Everything that Tito had, Hearns had more of it. He was bigger and even more powerfull. But anybody that sais Hearns would just blow through Trinidad like a knife through hot butter is just fooling themselves. Tito would make it a fight all through to the end. And if there is one thing that we can all agree on is that Tito had much better stamina than Hearns, which means the further it went, the more likely Tito would win.
As I say about any fighter. If you plan on beating Tito. You better bring your A game and you better stick to it for as long as the fight lasts. One slip up and he will make you pay.
