Good to hear Hatton Is the shot-caller.In a Bizarro universe,Hatton picks his "paydays".Quote:

If I look at the fights individually,I thought JLC won and Collazo lost. I had JLC winning by 1 or 2 rounds everytime I watch it.I thought Hatton won due to the knockdown. However, the big difference is,as already stated,Hatton ran to 140,Floyd rematched JLC and won cleanly.

mayweather should of lost the first castillo fight but did rematch and win decisively.
hatton won the collazo fight only just. the kd saved him. he should give collazo a rematch
I agree with your evaluation of the fights completely Gamo. The only thing I will say is that based on your points, Mayweather really had to rematch Castillo to prove that he was the better fighter. Hatton got a widely recognised win against Collazo, in most people's eyes the result was not wrong. Therefore a Hatton rematch against Collazo would have done a few things. Firstly, proven that a better prepared Hatton would have comfortably beaten Collazo, secondly, made it harder for him to get back to 140 and be in prime shape for a Castillo fight, without which a Mayweather fight would be nigh on impossible for him to make.Quote:

Williams, Mosely, Cotto, Cintron and Margarito were all tougher fights for Hatton because of his size. He may be a better fighter than them (he may not), but as is often said, a good big fighter will beat a good small fighter. Mayweather does not have a size advantage over Hatton and in many ways is the one Welterweight that Hatton stands a great chance against. Then we're back to styles making fights.
Just my opinion guys, feel free to tear me to shreds :D

I need you to help me understand how the Urango fight was a greater economic draw than a rematch w/ LC. Collazo was a bigger name than Urango. There was the previous controversial decision that could be marketed. And Collazo speaks good English to promote the fight.
Please explain.... thanks in advance.
I think my post explains this reasonably well Dios.
That is not the truth. I'm a fact-based poster, so I will provides facts and quotes to back up my assertion.Quote:

FROM DOGHOUSE BOXING: (after the Tszyu and Gatti fights)
Coyote Duran: I can see how that would work in the end but you'd think now that Ricky Hatton would feel like he was wasting his time against a Carlos Maussa since he beat the real champion.
Frank Warren: I would've thought so. I mean, prior to that fight, I had offered him the (WBO titlist Miguel) Cotto fight. I had offered him (WBC titlist) Floyd Mayweather. Even Don King and I spoke about (Undisputed Welterweight Champion) Zab Judah. But when he went out to Atlantic City to see the Maussa fight, he wanted the Maussa fight. To me, it's a belt and I can understand, as a fighter, that he'd want that belt, but let's be honest about it. Kostya Tszyu vacated that title and Ricky Hatton beat Kostya Tszyu. So, on the same list as Joe Calzaghe, he was the #1 by Ring magazine. Who cares about that (WBA belt)?
Coyote Duran: Right. Hatton doesn't need Maussa's belt. He's the man.
Frank Warren: I agree with you! I agree, but I was willing to make the fight. I spoke to Pat English (of Main Events). We had agreed terms for the fight and in the meantime, Pat English was advised not to deal with me and that I couldn't deliver Hatton.

AGAIN FROM SECONDS OUT (after turning down an April '06 fight):
Hatton said: "There'll be more pressure to fight Mayweather now from the Americans because, obviously, there's one less big fight out there for Floyd Mayweather now Zab Judah has lost. But a fight with Mayweather has always been very high up the agenda for us; but we still want one or two fights in America before we get to Mayweather. If anything, Judah's loss has make us even more attractive in the marketplace."
But Hatton believes his son needs the experience of fighting abroad before he takes on the super-talented three-division champion Mayweather.
He said: "Richard needs the experience of training aboard for a fight for the very first time, getting used to that, he needs to have the experience of doing everything the American television and media will expect him to do, getting used to the different time zones, fighting in front of an American crowd - all that.
"And I don't want him to have to deal with all that for the very first time and fight someone like Mayweather as well. Richard isn't a big head, he's got no ego on him, and he will tell you himself that Mayweather is the biggest danger out there for him. That's why he wants to fight Mayweather most of all now he's already beaten Kostya Tszyu, who was the No.1 before Ricky beat him. So, when Richard does fight Mayweather I want Richard comfortable with where he's training and everything else that goes with having a big fight in America."
******These are facts. The reason this fight has been so delayed is because Team Hatton consistently pushed it back. They received DOCUMENTED offers in '04, '05, and '06. Hatton kept asking for more time. I also have several more articles and quotes from Team Hatton. Facts.
If Hatton loses to Mayweather, as is generally expected, it will be interesting to see what his next move is. He should rematch Collazo. Will he continue to fight the welterweights (guys his own size), or will he again retreat to 140 pounds?Quote:

Frank Warren's biased as Hatton left him after the Kosta fight and before Maussa fight who DENNIS HOBSON chose for him so Franks having a swipe at him there and has had jibes at Hatton ever since.Quote:

Oh and Hatton did push this years fight with Mayweather to happen.
Lefty,
Hatton wanted three US fights to get accustomed to the American media, American crowds, and the different time zones.
How many UK fights was Floyd going to take to get accustomed to the UK media, the UK crowds, and the different time zones? How many did Tszyu get? How many did Maussa get? What's good for the goose is good for the gander....right? Either that stuff that Hatton said is important for both fighters, or it's unimportant for either fighter. Which is it?
You are focusing solely on the WARREN comment. How about the MULTIPLE Hatton quotes I provided? Ray Hatton said that they declined the opportunity to even negotiate for a FMJ fight because they weren't ready 'STYLE WISE". Not economics. STYLE WISE.
You are engaging in a bit of revisionist history. You are not showing objectivity.
