The fight was actually ruled a No contest in the fourth round, and according to the report on
www.fightnews.com it sounds like Danny Williams was actually the main man during the fight, with the ref saving Platov by ruling the cut too bad to continue.
St. Jakobshalle, Basel, Switzerland:
An IBF Intercontinental heavyweight clash between Oleg Platov (26-1, 22 KOs) and former world title challenger and Mike Tyson conqueror Danny Williams (37-6, 30 KOs) ended in a no contest. Both fighters landed big shots in round one, but Platov was the more effective. Platov was cut over the left eye by a head clash in round two and was bothered by blood in his eye, even taking a knee at one point. Platov the fought back hard for the rest of the round. Williams came on in rounds three and four, but the cut continued to get worse and the bout was stopped by referee Earl Brown at 2:15 of round four.
