I feel i have to go against the norm here and disagree with the likes of Danny and El Gamo. Sorry guys.
I just feel that Mayweather, once he gets into rhthym, would tee off on Cotto all night. The reason Hatton didn't take a total beating was mainly because he used his fast footwork to close the distance. When Hatton slowed down Mayweather started to go through the gears. Once he goes through the gears.....your fwocked.
Mayweather was stronger than Hatton in every aspect and IMO he wouldn't have this advantage at all with Cotto.....but i think Floyd would recognise this and would keep the fight at a distance....especially late on.
I think Cotto's physical strength would keep him there until the end but i don't rate his chances of beating Mayweather very highly.
Obviously the above is open to interpretation and it is only my opinion.....so i could be wrong.

Well, if anyone was to beat Mayweather, and I'm not sure Cotto is the one to do it, he would certanly not smoke him and it sure as hell would not be fast.
Having never seen a cigerete get smoked in a California jail a can't very well disagree with you though...
I will say this. Cotto has something I didn't in the 6 rounds of the fight I saw (I missed the fight so only seen the rounds in youtube 1-3 & 8-10) and that is a solid jab. How significant is this? Well when we talk about Mayweather it could mean absolutely nothing. But I think when you add that to the fact that Cotto is bigger, stronger and maybe all around a little better than Hatton, that gives him a good shot. Even though it would be a long shot at that.

I'll give it to ya, you are a pretty dedicated fan and will back your boy to the end. I disagree and wouldn't give cotto a real good chance but i do like cotto and give him an advantage against almost anyone else. Cotto's no joke but beating mayweather just in my opinion is just a bit much.

That is an excellent question. Cotto was widely celebrated for a late stoppage of Judah, and a close win over Shane. That is very respectable. But, in my opinion, Cotto needs to earn his bona fides with a win over a peak guy.
Miguel's Shane win is roughly equivalent to Floyd's Oscar win.
