Re: Emanuel steward says pbf is not an ATG!
WEll the thing is Corrals and Castillo are still question to be in the Hall of fame and Hatton and Oscar i give him credit. But with Hatton i would of like him to beat him at 140 which he could of with no prob so people would bring it up.

"I think a guy who fights against the best competition, and has his performance against the best," Steward said, describing his idea of a great pound-for-pound fighter. "How can you be pound-for-pound (best) when you don't want to fight the best?"
Mayweather, 30, was offered $8 million to fight Margarito some time back. Turned it down. Mayweather has scoffed at the idea of fighting Mosley. When asked about fighting Cotto, Mayweather refused to entertain the notion.
"This isn't Cotto's thing," Mayweather said, meaning he was on the call to talk about Hatton.
Arum has said that Mayweather will never fight Cotto because it's too dangerous of a fight for Mayweather.
Steward intimated that Mayweather needs to fight Cotto, as well as the others, if he wants to truly be boxing's pound-for-pound king. Steward noted that the welterweight division is the most talented in the sport today.
"To me, the guy that's out there who nobody may want to look at, I look at Miguel Cotto," said Steward, who trains one of the other welterweight champions, Kermit Cintron, but did not bring up his name. "Here is a guy who fought the best that he could at 140 (junior welterweight). And he whipped everybody. He's been knocked down, always finds a way to come back and win fights.
"Then moving up to 147 and fighting the best up here. Never dodges anyone."
Never runs from an opponent, either. To Steward, that's all Mayweather does; run from the best and avoid the best.
"You don't want to fight any of these guys and still you want to be considered the top welterweight when you won't even fight welterweights?" Steward said. "I just don't see it. I mean, you got people like Cotto who is out here fighting his (butt) off with the best.
"Great fighters like (Muhammad) Ali, he wouldn't have said, `Well, I don't want to fight this guy because he doesn't mean anything.' He fought everybody, went all over the world, fought all the best fighters in their countries. (Sugar Ray) Robinson did the same thing. Joe Louis. Those were great pound-for-pound fighters. I've never known a great fighter who picked and chose his fights."
Stewart is a freaking idiot!!
Cotto fought the best at 140???
Chop Chop Corley ???
Kelson Pinto ???
Urkal ???
Paul Malignaggi ???
Where's Ricky Hatton on that list? Where's Kostya Tszyu on that list?
Cotto aint fought the best at ANY weight class. Why the heck is Stewart hating on Mayweather?
Just by beating Hatton Mayweather has already stamped himself over Cotto.
Shane wasn't even the best at 147,
When Cotto fights and beats people like Margarito, Cintron, Williams and comes out on top then he will.
But as of right now, Cotto hasn't proven squat at the welterweight division.
The people he needs to beat at 147 are
Paul Williams
Kermit Cintron
Antonio Margarito
Joshua Clottey
THEN he can say that he beat the welterweight division.
But im tired of all these people saying MAYWEATHER has to do all this crap, WHY DONT THE GUYS YOU TELL HIM TO FIGHT, FIGHT EACH OTHER???
Its as simple as that

Agreed....
Re: Emanuel steward says pbf is not an ATG!
I respect the hell out of Steward, but he is proving that no matter how knowledgable you are, bias will distort truth and make you appear foolish.
Re: Emanuel steward says pbf is not an ATG!
Well Hatton Moved up adn Tyzu was not fighting anymore so that why he did not fight them and Shane is better win at Welter then all of PBF wins.
Re: Emanuel steward says pbf is not an ATG!
Stewart is still trying to live off the Hearns days. He trains people the same way and can not adapt. Tall with a good jab and straight right.
PBF is more of an all time great than Stewart.
As for PBF having no jab I suggest Stewart take a look at the 9th round.

Seriously. Since when is beating Miguel Cotto the measure of ATG status? Cotto's a good and entertaining fighter, but come on.
Dude, what the hell is wrong with you?Is Cotto not the best WW on the planet excpet for Floyd? So obviously a fight should be made.Jezz man. That's like Calzaghe not fighting Lacy or Kessler,he would have been hounded. You're usualy a good poster but that is a really silly response.
I think you're misunderstanding me. To the extent Floyd fights again, I'm with you: a Cotto fight is the one I'd most like to see. But the idea that currently Floyd is not an ATG, but would suddenly become one by virtue of beating Miguel Cotto just strikes me as a little silly. Cotto would not be the best regarded fighter Floyd had ever beaten -- Corrales was The Ring's #3 p4p fighter, and a favorite against Floyd, at the time of that fight.
Re: Emanuel steward says pbf is not an ATG!
Hey was not that high on the list he is about the same as Cotto is right now Cotto has mutiple titles in division adn he has beating a ATG in Shane Mosley so i think he be the most regarded of PBF opponents because who else would be just to ask.
Re: Emanuel steward says pbf is not an ATG!
Hey and people saying Stewart only had Hearns what about Lewis top 10 heavy and Wald doing alot better to Stewert may have went a bit over but he is a good trainer and has good knowlage so do not go saying he does not know how to train fighters please.

Beating De La Hoya at 154 lb is every bit as much of an acheivement as beating Shane at 147 in my opinion. Considering Mosely and De La Hoya's careers, the titles they have won and the closeness of the fights between them it's really splitting hairs to say Mosely is a bigger win than Oscar or vice versa.
Both are HUGE wins against the two most proven fighters in those weight classes.
Re: Emanuel steward says pbf is not an ATG!
I was not talking about how much more Cotto has done compared to what Floyd has done all i said is that Cotto would be the best win a rank in the top ten and is unbeat and pretty much in prime but who know he improves alot with each fight.
Re: Emanuel steward says pbf is not an ATG!
If i had to rank PBF i would put him in the top 30 which i think is a fair place.

So do you think Floyd is the greatest fighter of all time? Or are you asking just because you wanna see a list?
