mentally is get in there with Gavin Rees and get his confidence back, then he can sort out
either Witter or PM.
hahah how will that get his confidence back? Going from fighting Mayweather in one of the biggest British fights of all time to walking in as a challenger to Gavin Rees is like Steve McLaren being sacked from his England job and taking up his new post as assistant manager of the Brixham Bull & Bush pubs 5 a side team
Re: Hatton mentally ruined???
I wouldn't be the least bit supprised if Paulie beat Hatton.
Think about it. He did pretty good in his loss to Cotto. He also showed he could take a punch.
He also looked very impressive against another preasure fighter in N'due.
Plus, Hatton just came of a KO loss to a slick boxer.
Re: Hatton mentally ruined???
We will be able to tell after his next fight. If he gets beaten easily, then maybe it was a bit too much for him. But i think a guy like RH is better than that, and will accept that he lost, because he faced the very best.
Re: Hatton mentally ruined???
yeh but can he accept being second best as he has worked throughout his career to that fight to beat Mayweather..

Of course he can, he just will have to admit, the better fighter won. If he wants to prove that ONLY the best could beat him he will continue to fight. This is why he will prove he is the best at 140!

Well he has to accept it, because it won't change. And who says Hatton is 2nd best? He has to fight and beat Cotto, Williams, Margarito, Mosley, and Cintron to even get to be called 2nd best behind Floyd.
Re: Hatton mentally ruined???
Hey guys this is my first post on this site,My opinion is Hatton is "mentally ruined" from this one.Mayweather talked some much trash and Hatton just wanted to put a hurting on him.He just got caught cold. How about Lederman's scorecard. That was a bit off? heh?
Re: Hatton mentally ruined???
yeh but to me there doesnt seem like there can be a plan B in his career..
Re: Hatton mentally ruined???
CC, a very interesting post.
I agree to an extent. A career should follow a certain path and prepare you for the next trajectory. Hatton's hasnt. There is little coherence in the choices since Kostya. If it was leading to a specific goal ie Floyd then its hard to see any correlation in the choice of opposition. All south paws and no real warm ups to see if he could even deal with the WW division. Castillo was good but Castillo was the one stepping up. Since Kostya we witnessed the biggest waits between fights and indeed the biggest weights between fights.
Ricky was keyed up to fight Floyd, make no mistake, but has he even been geared to go 12 hard rounds for nigh on 2 years? Lots of question marks. Im a big Hatton fan, but have lots of doubts spinning around.
Like I say, I hope he bounces back and quick. But he's gotta take it seriously all the way through as he finally seemed to realise prior to preparing for Floyd.
EDIT....Of course, Hatton fought Collazo...but the point is that he didnt follow it up. Why try it without further practice against the best boxer in the world? Mayweather is a natural WW now.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The thing is though, he tried his hardest to get better quality opposition after Tszyu, and no-one would sign
When he fought Collazo, it was only after about 6 names had fallen through - it was Collazo or nothing
So I think everyone agrees he cleaned up LWW pretty much, and people were saying he wouldnt fight in states, so he did the states
Then people were saying he didnt fight the best so he has now done that
I am not sure what goals he still has - Mayweather was his goal, and it would have to be bordering on mircaulous for him to re-train, learn some missing skills, beat 4 decent people ever to have a chance to go to a top name again at WW
I almost think he should retire, I mean who cares if he beats Mali, Torres, Witter and Rees - he is already Ring Champion so it is just covering old ground
Unless he just wants to finish his career in 3rd gear at LWW
