Jef Fenech. Won titles in 3 divisions. COuld have been 4 if he'd got the nod against Azumah Nelson in their first fight.
Jeff Harding. Underrated former World LHW champion.
Lionel Rose. Bantamweight World champ who defeated Fighting Harada in Japan for the title.
Les Darcy. Old time champ who was MW champ and won the Aussie HW title only weighing 162. Tragically died at 22.
Johnny Famechon Former Featherweight wprld champ. Defeated Harada twice.
Jimmy Carruthers. Former world Bantamweight champ. Didi not lose as champ.
Dave Sands. Won the MW, LHW, and HW Aussie titles. Was a top ranked MW.
Anthony Mundine. Rugby player who turned to boxing late and has so far been a 168 champ.
Danny Green. Former 168 contender who just won WBA LHW crown
Tony Mundine. Top MW contender who lost hos one big Title fight against Monzon
Thats a few must be more.
I was just thinking you could round out to a dozen with the inclusion of Hector Thompson who had a great fight with a prime Roberto Duran in 1973. He also had a good fight with Antonio Cervantes losing due to a cut eye. Duran does make mention of his fight with Thompson in his book Hands of Stone and how tough he was to beat.
Re: Who is the GREATEST AUSSIE FIGHTER?
jeff fenech for me. world champion in 3 weight divisions. should of been a fourth as he won the first fight with nelson. might even have been greater if it wasnt for chronic hand trouble
Re: Who is the GREATEST AUSSIE FIGHTER?
How could anyone be better than KT who is the greatest 140 of all time?

Nice one. Hector Thompson was a great boxer and a hell of a puncher. Duran and Cervantes both were hurt by Hector. Unfortunately Hector was attributed with killing two guys in the ring and it really affected him emotionally. He apparently held back a little after that and IMO is an unrecognised great of Australian boxing.
