Amazing, I have a copy of this session on VHS but I've not seen it in years. I have to dig it out.
If my facts are correct, I think Benn said he could actually smell the whisky of him during that session? but I could be wrong.
Just shows the amazing skills Duran had!

Just imagine what a prime Duran would look like training?
Yes can you imagine, in his prime simply AMAZING!!
Re: Nigel Benn sparring with Roberto Duran
Looks like an older version of Duran to me. Did they mention what year this was and I missed it?
What was with Benn not wearing headgear? Was he trying to prove something? I bet he wished he had the gear on in the first Chris Eubank fight. Good post of the video. I will give some reputation when I get some

This was Duran in training for the Iran Barkley fight. Definetly an older Duran, this vid probably took place in 89'. I think Benn's people told him to go all out on Duran(hence no headgear), but Roberto wasn't having any part of it. Apparently round this time Duran was also drinking extremely heavily. Just show's what a great Duran was imo.

I figured it had to be around that time in his career
Re: Nigel Benn vs Roberto Duran Sparring
I love watching guys like that spar.
I wish there were more Toney vids sparring, there's a good writer for one of the other sites who's based in Southern California that talks about how when Toney was basically a non-entity in the time before he came back to beat Jirov that he would come into the gym half drunk, at least, with a cigar and still toy with guys like Lamon Brewster, Jeremy Williams, other guys like that.
Also Shane Mosley when he was coming up apparently had some great sparring sessions with pretty much everybody based in Southern California. See the Chavez video I posted on the other thread.
