Basically i started up the diet/working out again since the beginning of the year and i want a 6 pack by summer.. I had a 4 pack last year, and got it by doing like 250-350 crunches before bed every night for a few months, but i couldn't get the bottom part of the abs to show..
Now, know this.. I'm lazy as hell, so i don't want like 10 different exercises or recommended machines to use or any of that crap.. I just want to know if anyone has any workouts that they feel helped them accomplish what i want to..
I'm at the gym at the least every other day, and have an elliptical in my basement that i run on every day.. I've also been easing myself into a diet..
So i guess what i'm asking would be a lazy man's routine for what you guys do for cardio (how far you're going/how fast you do it) and any other routines/methods you feel you should include..
Again, I know we have an Ask the Trainer part but i just want some basic ideas that worked for people..

250-300 sit ups ?? there is no need for that many, i got a six pack from mostly doing cardio. Running, boxing, swimming, and also having a good diet. And remember you can't lose fat from your stomach doing crunches. You could do 1 million crunches and you would still never lose fat from your stomach, you cannot lose fat in one specific area. And also the reason you aren't seeing any results on your lower abs is because you can't be doing enough variety of exercises for certain parts on your abs. Land down flat and raise your legs 12 inches off the ground and then lower them slowly to where your feet are almost touching the ground and repeat. Thats just one example of how to work your lower abs check up on the interest for more lower ab workouts.
Bicycle crunches are 250 percent more effective than normal crunches i suggest you also do them. And also get yourself a stability ball that works wonders for your abs. But let me just tell you this, getting a six pack is more to do with healthy eating and cardio the old saying is that six pack is made in the kitchen and not the gym just keep that in mind, and when you do crunches look for quality not quantity.

Out of curiosity.. that is, if you are on a current routine of running, how many miles (if that's how you measure) do you run and in how much time.. I can run about a 7 minute mile but i'd have trouble running two miles in 7 min.. so i'm thinking i could prob run maybe three 9 min miles if i decided to run three miles..
just curious
Re: Who here has a 6 pack?
Shannon briggs will have to give you lessons on road work.

I don't really time myself i just do my roadwork early in the morning, i do 8 miles. The best time to work out is in the morning because it burns off more fat. I do a lot of variety of cardio though not just running. Skipping, swimming, etc. I also find the cross trainer to be a very good tool for burning fat.
Basically all you need to do is have a good diet and do loads of cardio, its more to do with that than crunches. Good luck and let me know how you get on if you need any help with certain exercises PM me bro.

Actually it's not something we hobbits find attractive. Instead of worrying about our abs we pride ourselves on having the most well groomed feet with the most lustrous hair :)

Re: Who here has a 6 pack?
a good diet helps a lot and the weekend basketball games. Push-ups or bench press does your chest good and compacts your upper abs, then to target the lower abs leg lifts does the job.
I think people that say they do hundreds of hundreds of sit ups a day are either lying or just obsess. It doesn't take a lot of sit ups a day, it just takes consistency.
I just do 20 leg lifts every night,20 bicep curls,20 tricep curls, 20 reps of olympic bench press of a weight of just 100lbs and a good diet. Thats all for me, it takes me less then ten minutes and sometimes I squat as much weight as i can but not every week.
People think they will get results right away if they try so hard in one day and do lots and lots of repetition but there wrong. It takes time and a good daily rotation. I never have to really run out in the mourning for cardio to be honest i never really have to push myself I just do it cause i can't finish of the day without doing my quick and easy exercise.

Sometimes I think you follow me around the boards just to taunt me. :P
Remember it takes an even smaller man to mock a small man ::**
Now run along, those pizza's won't deliver themselves

Re: Who here has a 6 pack?
I'd say 75% of good abs is diet. Watch what you eat,and eat good clean foods and you're almost there. Then I think the next main % is cardio, getting rid of the fat aroud the body(as it is impossible to spot reduce fat) Finally,do your sit ups regularly and often,I don't think it matters how many you do,try and do them to failure. In about 4-5 months, provided you have been strict in your adherence to your training, you should see the difference.
