All these people spewing this rubbish are the same ones that were saying the same thing about Margarito before he got beat by Williams. You can chop it up and look at it however you want, but that's the way it is.
Good for him that he's staying active, but his next fight needs to be against somebody worth a shyt before anybody can even start an INTELLIGENT argument by saying that Mayweather is ducking him.
Oscar is avoiding Margarito for the same reasons that Oscar's avoiding Golden Johnson. No money. Nobody would give a shyt if the fight came off and it probably wouldn't do 250,000 ppv buys. Cotto vs. Delahoya might net 500,000 buys. How much do you think that Delahoya vs. Mayweather would do?? Not to mention, I'm sure Floyd gets a much larger share of the revenue this time around.
Cotto's next fight needs to be against Paul Williams, Cintron (the weakest option, imo) or the Judah/Margarito winner. When he wins a fight (again) of that caliber, then people can begin to talk. But until that happens, the people saying that Floyd is ducking Cotto are just a bunch of delusional fan-boys.
You are not realising Oscar's massive commercial appeal. His fight with Mayorga drew 875,000 buys if he fought Cotto it would be a guaranteed 1,000,000 buys at least. Margarito needs to win a belt back before he would be considered but if he was champ again my guess is that a Margarito De La Hoya title fight would get at least as much as the Mayorga fight.
Oscar is insanely popular
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
oh i pray it don't happen.
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
I won't pay a dime to see this fight and from the looks of it, neither will many of you. I don't care how popular Oscar is, at this point, he is irrelevant. This fight is blatantly about the money and there are so many better fights to be made. I like Oscar, but this part time sh$t where he thinks he can just pop in every now and then for a few million pisses me off. I hope HBO gets a rude awakening and nobody buys the fight.

I must agree. SCREW The World Awaits 2. It can keep waiting.
You a Jesse James Leija fan by any chance? I was a big fan of that little guy. Never seen a prospect that could whip him.

CC Bil,EXACTLY. Oscar v ANYONE is going to do huge numbers. He's just smart enought to know he can make $$$ bigtime without having to get his ass beaten by monsters at 147 like Tony and Williams.

CC to you both. That's intelligence. We've seen the fight,we're sick of Oscar's part time crap,a win over him is not important anymore. He's the cash whore now,the only reason anyone wants to fight Oscar is because of the $$$. People, use your smarts,DON'T waste your hard earned $$$ on this fwocking fight.
What makes it more embaressing is that BOTH have acknowledged it was a boring fight and when you hear Oscar say crap like it wasn't the night of the jab,it's embaressing.Pathetic, nothing but a circus.

When there is a leader of a pride, herd, pack or whatever, they have to fight the strongest young up and comers to maintain their position. If they don't, they will simply get displaced and forgotten!!
Take Hagler for instance. Between his super fights with Duran, Hearns and Leonard, he fought Roldan, Hamsho and Mugabi to maintain his dominance. That is a true fighter there folks, and that is why he is, and will always be considered an all time great. You have to take on all comers, and to those who think Cotto, a two time undefeated and respected champion, does not deserve a shot, you are only kidding yourselves.
CC,well said.

That's what i was going to say. I'm surprised that the same people who will be annoyed are likely to be the same ones that thought Oscar won the first fight. Funny old game.....boxing.
Well,I started the thread and that dam sure as hell doesn't apply to me. When the first fight was made,I was beating the drum about how Floyd would win easily, asking people to use rationale, telling everyone Oscar never was and never will be a pressure fighter and has no right hand anymore. Did anyone listen?Nope.
FYI,I had Floyd winning that fight by a wide ,margin,4 points at least. Those judges had that fight close because they needed to make it close in case of a rematch. So there could be an excuse for one:"oh it was an SD". Yeah right.Anyone who had that fight an SD needs to learn how to score fights. The ONLY way that fight was close is if you hate Floyd or score punches that miss by miiiiiiles and INeffective agression, via arm punches.
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
I swear I will no spend a dime to watch this fight. Just like I did in the Winky vs Tito.
Stay at home and watch the news the other day.
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
Just to add to this and the reality that this fight is certainly in negotiations,Oscar/GBP has contacted Floyd senior to train Oscar for this fight. Floyd Senior certainly thinks its against his son. ANd he said he'll do it.
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
I actually think this would be a terrible choice and not just because it wouldn't be exciting or that Mayweather won clearly last time etc. I think it would be terrible because it isn't going to get anywhere near the interest as it did last time, i think this is a waste of time and im a Mayweather fan saying this. I would rather Mayweather to take a year off then fight Cotto, Williams, etc.

Sounds like somebody's got a little sand in their vagina. ;D
Honestly...I was merely trying to be humerous...sarcastic if you will.
I don't give two shits about a Oscar Floyd rematch. Bring on Cotto...let's see him get handled...then when Floyd says he's finished this time...everyone else can hunt up someone else to beat him.

;D ;D ;D I did sound a bit frumpy there but that's because I can't believe ANYONE would think that Oscar Floyd 1 was anywhere near an SD. I wouldn't say I'm in a rush for a Cotto-FLoyd fight,I actually think Arum lining him up v Gomez and then Marg-Judah winner is a smart move,it's more the fact that Floyd was supposedly on a hiatus (because Miguel was the big name being mentioned to fight him) but now Oscar is being mentioned,he all of a sudden is going to forget his hiatus. I don't like that.
And I don't like pricks like Oscar making boxing into some kind of circus. He either needs to fight a guy coming up or go away.At least try and do something for the sport by giving exposure to someone not as well known if you HAVE to carry on fighting. What happened to all his BS talk of I want a toe to toe war.
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
If Oscar could not beat Floyd in 07 then why would he have a better chance in 08??
Pointless fight ::**
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
right now as a fight fan anyways, i'd say Oscar's best bet, to not only make a shit load of money, but also put a huge ! on his career, (if he manages to pull it off), is taking on Cotto in May, if he beats him, then go on and fight Mayweather in a rematch (hey he does deserve the rematch, boring or not the first fight was close, Mayweather won by a round), and well that's it
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
Well i hope the promoter dosnt hold back like he did last time out... guess now we know why he did ::**
Whats it being billed as....
"This time its personal for the MONEY"
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
Oh man i'd be so pissed off if this fight came off..Neither fighter needs this..neither fighter needs the damm money either!
Re: Oscar Floyd 2 in negotiations:what a crock of sh!t
I just got the official word. (As if it weren't obvious enough)
floyd mayweather is a phucking clown and a coward and undeserving of the p4p crown.
