In closing, Cotto has said he wants to fight at least 4 times per year, so I am not that far off the mark because Gomez is no threat and ODLH isn't either and I have added them into the equation.

Danny it has nothing to do with the ease of Cotto getting through fights. I think Cotto will walk through almost all of his opponents. It is just how long it seems to take fights to be made. The talks, the negotiations, the distant fight date, injuries, etc. Even if he KO'd all his opponents in the first, I don't think he could get to 5 fights.

Top class fighters probably fight 3 times a year at most.
Prospects fight a lot more but not World Champions. Too difficult to make the fights.

Alfonso Gomez is the type of Gimme that can have you looking up at the lights.. I see this match being competitive.
Gomez isn't a dangerous puncher so he is never going to floor or KO Cotto. I think Gomez will be more competitive than people expect but he won't last the distance no way. He has decent boxing skills but he gets hit way too much and no way will he last the distance against someone as strong as Cotto.

Personally i just think he's fighting a television reality star in order to raise his own profile even further in the USA.....in order for a 2009 fight with Mayweather to become a super fight where they both will earn shit loads.
Good business sense.

8) i like this Gomez kid , last few fights he developed nicely.. like i say, this is the kinda fighter that brings more then meets the eye. should be a thriller, how could it not be?

It could be, but with another boxer , i dont want takeoff credit of him, but Cotto is too superior ,we could see an Abuse ...the problem of Gomez is that he like get lot of punch he dont have defence and either hard punch, think in that vs Cotto.... That is why i said that this fight is not a match .. ;)
