Plenty of money to be made and plenty of big fights at 168...Pavlik should stay if he feels comfortable there
What are you all talking about??? Pavlik is undefeated and just earned the MWT champ. No one at 160 will beat him, and to prove it, he has been knocking out people for 4 years straight. He needs to unify the division (Sturm, Abraham) and get his PPV on with Duddy before thinking of going anywhere...
Besides, it would do Pavlik better to let Calzaghe retire, because once that happens, Pavlik is guaranteed the crown at 168. Who can stop him? Allan Green? LOL! Miranda loses to Pavlik everytime, because he is just a better fighter with just as much power! I am much more interested in seeing Taylor v. Miranda at 168.
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
I don't understand this thing with 168. Someone said it is a hotter division than welter??
Joe Calzaghe is leaving the division. Everyone on here seems to be saying that 168 will suddenly be the shit because it's got Kessler plus three guys moving up from middleweight? No one was shitting themselves about the MW division last year, when these same three guys were all there--at least no one was comparing it to WW. Kessler can't possibly be the difference maker--he's only slightly more intriguing than Abraham and Sturm. Am I missing something?

Which brings me to the following:
Watching Miranda knock out Banks last Friday, one has to wonder, if.... Miranda would ever like to try and redeem himself in a rematch against Pavlik. Miranda looked big against Banks and this just shows us how big both Miranda and Kelly are.
All speculations here because we have not seen what Pavlik or Jermain can do at this weight class. Maybe I am getting ahead of myself but I have to wonder because a rematch (Pavlik/Miranda) of this magnitude, is mouth watering to say the least. ;D
This whole thing has to dove tail on what Wacko was saying about how great this 168 weight class is going to be this year. He might be onto something for shizz.
:coolclick: Good post.
While I agree that 168 is making some waves...I want a definitive champ of the middleweight division & for all his flaws...I want that to be Pavlik.
Rematch Taylor & move back down...struggle or not with making weight...he could do it & he could cominate I think.
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
Regardless of whether Pavlik wins or not I think he should try and get Abraham, who apparently wants to come over to the US to raise his exposure and then Sturm if he can. He should then make one or two defences against the likes Duddy and another leading contender, then move up. On the other hand he can try and build a middleweight legacy for himself. If he can make 160 then he could stay there moving up for the odd big money fight e.g. Calzaghe (if he stays at 168) or some of the other fighters there.

I slightly disagree Wacko although i would love to see Pavlik dominate Middleweight division. Who is there really for him at that weight ?? Sturm won't come to USA, Abraham won't come to USA either, Lee is far too inexperienced, then that leaves Duddy which is a decent match up, but other than Duddy who else is there for Pavlik at Middleweight ?? because i very much doubt Sturm or Abraham will take the risk fighting Pavlik in the USA.

Winky could still make 160, that'd be a money making matchup for Kelly. Fight Winky and Duddy then move up.

Thats if Winky can get back down to 160 and plus i haven't heard anything from Winky since the Hopkins fight. Maybe he is considering retirement ??

Thats right, if Winky can come down. I think Kelly should stay at 160 for a while yet.
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
I'm sure Winky can come down. And he has skills and style that can last him in his old years.
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
Taylor will will win this fight. Taylor then will stay at 168. Maybe a Lacy or Kessler fight would be a good fight at this weight to start out with..
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
I'd really like to see Taylor finnish Antonio Tarver's career though. This is because when i was at hopkins taylor 1 i heard tarver mouthing about how Taylor dont got nothin and what hed do to hopkins. It'd be nice to see him get his butt handed to him by both of them.
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
I believe his power would be just as dominate in 168 as it is in 160 or any weight class he decides to end his career at. I feel he could be just as a dominate force as a fighter at that weight and capture championships. I feel that he could take care of Kessler and Calzaghe and he has already beat the next title holder at 168 in Jermaine Taylor. Who cant this guy knock out? He has knocked out anything put in front of him.
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
Pavlik is the MAN. JT gets KO again.
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
Something tells me Pavlik may have a tougher time with JT this fight.....
Re: If Pavlik feels comfortable at 168? Will he or should he stay at 168?
I think Jermain's switch in trainers might make him feel more relaxed and from my view he needs that more than anything.
Both these fighters know they can hurt each other and I think Jermain will start out trying to press the fight to Kelly which isn't a dumb idea but he needs to stick and move later on in the fight
