But that's kind of the point isn't it? They wouldn't both want to do this fight if people didn't care because it wouldn't bring in the huge money. We on this forum might not care but obviously if its the biggest money fight in boxing, people care or it wouldn't bring in that type of money, PPV buys, etc.
Sure it won't be as highly anticipated as the first one was but it will still be a huge event.
Re: Oscar vs Floyd II nears deal- for Sept. 13/Sept. 20 on HBO pay-per-view
What a hideous and pointless matchup. Floyd has already beaten him with ease and a rematch would just be further apart.
I will NOT watch this if it comes off. Nothing more I can do than switch off and voice my displeasure.

A catch weight too...what is the point in Oscar going down from 154 to face Mayweather. He already failed miserably with every advantage he could muster. Mayweather would have him bouncing off all 4 turnbuckles below 154.
Re: Oscar vs Floyd II nears deal- for Sept. 13/Sept. 20 on HBO pay-per-view
If DLH get the same advantages as last time and does exactly the same thing expect keep throwing the jab in the last rounds the judges will probably give him the decision....could have happened last time. It wasn't close but DLH "looked" like he was doing something.
Would anyone be bothered if Mayweathers first lose came via a dodgy decision.....I wouldn't :)
Re: Oscar vs Floyd II nears deal- for Sept. 13/Sept. 20 on HBO pay-per-view
I dred all the crap we are gonna to have to sit through till sept while they try to build this fight up. All the 24/7 type hype all over again trying to convince us oscar will win this time and the hundreds of reasons why. Oscar will try to throw the jab more this time floyd will know that and beat him again easier than the first time. Worst is i can't criticize any of the probably tons of videos and stuff danny is going to make leading up to this if it goes thru since i will be disappointed for once with floyd as well. I hoped floyd actually would retire or take some time off but at the very least if he is going to come back it could be against cotto.
Re: Forget about Mayweather-Cotto in 2008...
Next he'll want to give hatton a rematch too....robbing us of both a cotto showdown for floyd and witter showdown for hatton. Say it aint so floyd, we don't want to see this again....well i don't, in case i have any influence.
Re: Forget about Mayweather-Cotto in 2008...
The next best fight then is Cotto vs Paul Williams. I think Cotto and his fans are scared of this Fight. Cotto is the best in the division, Paul is #2. The 2 best fighters fighting is always a good thing, But Cotto is avoiding Tall Paul just like everyone else in the division. They all want to be #1 but they cant beat the #2 guy. Avoid Paul at all cost is the cry in 08. Floyd,Citron,Cotto are all scared to death. THE BOOGIE MAN COMETH.

Why would a fan of Cotta be afraid of him facing Williams? If you are a fan of a fighter, you should want fights like that. I am a fan of Cotto and would love to see that fight. If he wins, great, if he loses, better luck next time. Same goes for Williams. I would rather see my favorite fighters fight the best and get their asses handed to them, than to see them fighting unworthy opponents and wasting their talent.
I also guarantee that Cotto or even most fighters worth their weight are not afraid of fighting anyone else, you can blame that on the promoter's etc.

Hatton will never go back to Welterweight so i doubt that will happen.

Yeah but my point is Ouma, Floyd doesnt need the money, he needs to shut the doubters up and build himself a legacy by proving that he can beat the best at his weight level.
Now dont get me wrong, Im a huge floyd fan and I think people are far too quick to criticize him but this is just very disapointing.
When I said "nobody" I was really referring to boxing fans. He'll gain millions from it but he hardly needs it and that is all we will gain....plus he stands to lose a lot.

I don't like the fight at all, I'm not really defending it or defending Floyd really but I'm sure it will do a lot of buys whether or not the more "hardcore" fans like us on here really want to see it. Even though it doesn't seem like a big fight to us right now, it will end up being a very big fight/event. Whether its a big fight for Floyd's legacy is a different question.
And I'm sure a lot of people on here who are kind of disinterested will end up getting the PPV. I won't but that's mainly cause I'm in school and don't have a limitless PPV budget. That and I have discovered Sopcast ;D
