Re: I was More Impressed With Golata
It would have been a travesty if he lost - he won the fight.
What's your point?
Re: I was More Impressed With Golata
I thought golota was slow but not necessarily sloppy. His punches were fairly accurate and straight, just a bit slow. I agree with your comment though, if King had it that Mollo was to win he would have. If both guys just suddenly "Disappear" then perhaps that was what was meant to happen. ;D
Re: I was More Impressed With Golata
He looked good stanmina wise but his power isnt was it was, he could use some strength training. That eye looked like he caught a thumb in the eye or something, I've never seen Golota swell up like that.
Re: I was More Impressed With Golata
and the moment golata steps up again he is getting KO'd.
But he'll be first in line for Vitali's comeback Im sure ;)
It was an ugly fight and it was good to see Golata wasnt the one making it that way or at least keeping it clean on his end

Was just a right hand straight on the eye - it swelled up fast and was basically closed by the time he got back to the corner for the break.

Your living about 10 years ago
King doesnt have that kind of swing anymore,he's only got one titelest anymore, and he's about to lose him
And on top of that, even when the promoter wants a guy to win, they dont do that movie crap of,"Yer takin a dive in the 5th Johnnie, see?"
King has his teeth in to both fighters, but look at it logicaly, who does King stand to make more from,a 40 year old contender,or a 27 year old one?
Re: I was More Impressed With Golata
Well I was just kidding but you are right about me being caught up ten years ago in my thinking but that's more in music. I still think King gets more $$$$$ from the polish maniac than Mollo b/ because even the guys here don't know much of him and i King wants to stack a card the name golotta does that nicely as the casual boxing fan still remembers who he is. But a CC for you first post because I agreed with it.

The evil one,as we tend to call him around here, long term, had more to make from Mollo. He's only going to get so many fights out of Golata,he could get a good 13 years out of Mollo
Don's really backed himself in to a corner,he NEEDS another great heavyweight, even if Golata wins one of the belts, how many defenses does he really have in him?
This was supposed to be Mollo's coming out party, nobody bothered to inform Golata of that though

Maybe as we say around here he was "having 2 bob each way". That is if mollo ousts golota then he has a potential pospect. If golota wins then he gets to use his name for at least 1 more fight and it will help his undercard for his next promotion.

Trainer Monkey, you and I both know that King isn't going to get shit out of Mollo unless he starts doing his roadwork based on Saturday night... ;D

That's the best take on things yet. I definitely don't think Mollo was supposed to win this one. As I said before, King would have ensured a victory if that was the case.

Trainer Monkey, you and I both know that King isn't going to get S*** out of Mollo unless he starts doing his roadwork based on Saturday night... ;D
Promoters, especially really desperate ones, are notorious for seeing what isnt there
King needs a Heavy right now,he's too heavily invested in to the division,Mollo early showed what King saw in him, fast hands, they just dont have any gas on them
Re: I was More Impressed With Golata
Maybe all he saw is that his name is "Mike"?

Thanks Greig. It seemed that Mollo was never going to win this fight but King gave him his "Chance". Bet it didn't cost him much either.

What he saw was fast hands and a good chin, and as I said before,Don's getting kinda desperate so he's swinging at shadows praying he gets his next big thing
Don's usually a "keep throwing it at the wall something will stick" sort of promoter on his best days anyway
