Do you think back in the '70s boxing fans were talking about how brilliant the heavyweight scene was? Ha-ha, neither do I. 'Ali ain't what he was . . . Foreman overrated . . . Holmes a bum . . . what a mess!'
And in 20 years' time people will be waxing lyrical about the one today.

I actually don't think that is a fair comparison. I don't think there are three heavyweights today that are even in SHAPE. Most of the contenders and all look fat and not impressive. In fact if the HW division is THAT much worse in 30-40 years, the division will be dead.

Fair point, BB! I was being just a mite bit facetious.
How many boxing fans does it take to change a light-bulb?
Answer: Ten. One to change the light-bulb and nine to talk about how great the old one was.
(Sorry!)

I see your point Barlick about fans, but I just don't think it'll ever apply to the current heavy bunch. Just watched part of the Chagaev-Skelton fight today and it was embarrassing, Skelton can't even throw a punch nowadays and he was bloody competitive.
Re: Will Wlad Klitchsko enter P4P top ten if he beats Ibragimov??
I think he, Klitschko, would have to beat everyone available Chagaev, winner of Peter-Maskaev, POvetkin, and David Haye if he wins and moves up to be in the top 10 p4p... there simply isn't anyone good enough thtat Wlad would deserve a top spot that he can against right now, maybe in a few years Haye will up there, but until then he will/should be crushing the heavyweight division.
Re: Will Wlad Klitchsko enter P4P top ten if he beats Ibragimov??
Didn't think a heavy could ever enter the P4P list?
Always thought they heavy weight champ was the BEST screw the "without weight" crap
Basicaly no one from a less weight (this was before the cruiser was on the scene) would be able to be the heayweight champ around the time the p4p list came about, so there for they made that for the rest of the devisions?

Mike Tyson was P4P number 1 or P4P number 2 at one time i believe.
Re: Will Wlad Klitchsko enter P4P top ten if he beats Ibragimov??
Ali was have been on a P4P lists. I don't know if Holmes was, but he should have been. If Wlad really cleans out the division we can start that debate, but until then, he's not close to P4P status.
Re: Will Wlad Klitchsko enter P4P top ten if he beats Ibragimov??
I think that if he wins his fight and picks up his second World title he will have an arguement at #10 in the P4P list.
This would also depend on the outcome of the 3rd Vasquez-Marquez fight. Seeing as those 2 would move around....
As for the Heavy being P4P #1 Tyson was P4P #1, I believe Tyson became #1 right after he beat Spinks in '88.

That's what I thought too, but I guess that's not the case.
Re: Will Wlad Klitchsko enter P4P top ten if he beats Ibragimov??
I think Wlad will beat the top ten getting the most trouble from Valuev.
Re: Will Wlad Klitchsko enter P4P top ten if he beats Ibragimov??
I just don't get how some one who can only fight in one weight division like Klitchsko can be P$P because he can only fight in one division.
Re: Will Wlad Klitchsko enter P4P top ten if he beats Ibragimov??
He's a heavyweight so P4P does not apply unless he moved up to heavyweight from a lighter weight.
Re: Will Wlad Klitchsko enter P4P top ten if he beats Ibragimov??
IN the newest Ring Magazine where they ask several experts for their pound for pound list. Wlad is either in them or listed as just missing their list.
That being said, Holfield and Tyson in their primes where always in the Pound for Pound list. Infact Tyson was #1 pound for pound for 1988 in The Ring.
