Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
Can't agree more VD, take the fight in front of you and worry about the rest after that. Having your mind anywhere other than on the person in front of you trying to smash your skull in is asking for a slip up.
I do see him as a tough fight for anyone and have to agree, risk/reward ratio is not there. However, what does he expect? He so far has had one good win against a suspect opponent, seems like he wants his shot handed to him on a plate. This isn't the Heavies, one decent win does not make you the man to beat.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
IMO Paul wont be able to stay at 147 for too long and will have to move up to 154 or possibly 160 someday in his career but if this is the case he needs to top WW now before he is gone

I wouldn't mind seeing him at 154 i would love to see Williams against Vernon Forrest.

TBH though IMO Williams is a good fighter but I really don't think anyone is scared of him....Cintron is scared of Sleeping without a night light so we will leave him out of it...but I severely doubt That Cotto is afraid of him and PBF is doing other things at the moment....
As much as I dislike PBF he has nothing to prove by fighting Williams and PBF is not afraid of Paul...
Also since he is champion I am sure Mosley rated #2 would have signed to fight him at some point in time over the last year,, Clottey would have been in there at some time...Hell Mayorga is Ranked #10...I know getting to 147 would be a hell of a job for him but I know Mayorga would sign the contract.....
Plenty of guys out there to face so I hate to be the buzz kill but
No One is Afraid to Fight You Paul Williams...Just because you can not get the fight you want right now does not mean you are being avoided
Maybe he should have tried to get his ass in the ring over the last year or so then he might have been in a better position to get these big fights....
Williams is another one of those guys who thinks he is the greatest thing to hit the sport since the cup......
He is a tough guy and dangerous opponent sure I agree but so is every name I mentioned
Well said, have some rep, I agree completely, especially with the bolded part. I'm sure Margo would've taken the rematch the second it was offered.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
I understand Paul's frustrations, but he should understand the game of boxing right now. Since Mayweather is spending his time retirng and unretiring against safe opponents who will bring him money, and since Cotto has earned the right to pick and choose his opponents, and since Bob Arum has Margarito and Cotto in his promotional grasp, Williams should just bide his time, not look past his opponents (like Quintana) and soon the top fighters will have no choice but to fight him. Everybody at 147 is chasing the money and right now the money fights are bigger without the name of Williams. He may have to take a fight for a small amount of money against one of the top guys (and defeat them) in order to make a bigger name for himself.

So, I'd suggest for him to make Hay while the sun shines, fight as many Welters as he can and force his claim at the top guys. A rematch win over Margarito would put him in a strong position I feel.
The guy is a little too full of himself. He was 1-2 rounds away from getting KO'd by Margarito and would definitely get KO'd by Margarito in a rematch. He is busy but lacks the power to ward off a busy banger. Severe conditioning problems down the stretch in the Margarito fight.
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
Williams is just bitter because he thought the second he won a world title he would be making Buku paydays....In truth he has not really had too many high profile bouts to even garner the mega paydays...
Matthyse, a shot Matchell and a close bout with Margarito....Without the Margarito fight he has the resume of a potential star...If he dominated Margarito he would have a better case for himself....
Cintron is not making the big paydays either (reguardless of his excuses of not fighting this guy or that) so Williams can not complain he is being overlooked....
Tell ya what...If Margarito beats Cintron for the IBF title...(And IMO he will)...I can almost guarentee he will be willing to have a unifaction match with Paul ASAP.....Williams on the other hand IMO will not be so anxious to sign...
Just an opinion

Margo would beat him in the rematch IMO. He just needs to get started earlier next time around.

He'll sign. He beat him once I think he'll feel he can beat him again. Williams needs to be worrying about Quintana first

It was more a case of Margarito beating himself by starting off way too slow with a poor fight plan. Williams punches are large volumes of slaps and little power. In a rematch Margarito will jump on him from the outset and finish him within 8.

I have been saying that from the beginning...Not that Quintana is the best contender in the division but certainly not a guy to overlook...You overlook him he has the goods to come out with the W

Evereyone knows that but blind Williams fans...The score was very close Williams did not run away with that fight....Margarito did not step into the fight until the 5th or 6th rd...The first thing Tony said in the post fight interview is "I started too late"....He knows what he did wronmg and he knows in the rematch he just needs to come out strong from the start...He made the same mistake in the Clottey fight...Thats OK though because Margarito beats Cintron for the IBF title then if he hets a rematch with Williams he takes back the WBO title as well..
Have some rep on me

You're talking shit...How does throwing 100+ punches a round for damn near 12 rounds equate to ''conditioning problems''. Did you see the way Williams ran away with the 12th round? Hardly the sign of somebody being out of condition down the stretch. Did you even watch the match?
Williams beats overated Margarito again if they fight. He executed the perfect gameplan and he is now the deserved champion. Give him some respect.

I don't really know about the conditioning but the latter end of the fight was all Margarito.....
To Call Margarito overrated is just hater talk with no merit...Williams won a close fight...a fight he won on punch output in the early rds before Tony got started....Williams dominated the fight in no way what so ever...and if you think differently I have to question if you seen the fight
Re: Paul Williams: Nobody wants to fight me!!!
Tony ran out of steam in the 12th round though. He wasn't pressuring Williams as he was in the middle rounds.
