Yeah..
But why would he prepare for a fight with Sultan like it is the biggest fight of his life!?
The Sultan that drew with Austin, who Wlad knocked silly early on? The Sultan that just went 12 with a Holyfield that is so far past it he's out of sight?
I dont think there is anyway possible to get "up" enough for this fight to the extent that he is going to train harder then he did for previous fights.
I'd guess it can only be bad news that he is so light.
Re: Sultan 219...Wlad 238!!!!
Well I think Wlad and Manny's theory is that Sultan is going to either move away a lot or attack and Wlad will have to move away a lot.
He seems to be in great shape, I hope this strategy works out for them.
Re: Sultan 219...Wlad 238!!!!
Im not worried about wlady weight, I've actually hope to see wlady weight less then 240, I can remember before he went above 240 I thought he was a lot better then when he started weight 240 plus i thought....he getting fat. I think wlady really wants this fight thats why he train a lot more cause it is a unification ain't it? and thats what wlady has been wanting for a long time now. I think 238ish is better for wlady, he'll be more quicker and prolly less robotic.

Sultan Ibragimov: "I feel fantastic. The weight is fantastic, perfect!"
I suspect Andy Lee was a major sparring partner for him as well as Johnathan Banks
That's true, I didnt even think of that. Both of the aforementioned Kronk stable mates probably made Wlad feel like he was fighting under water!
He must expect to have to chase Sultan down, which is exactly what he will have to do if Sultan fights the only fight that gives him a chance to pull the upset.
Re: Sultan 219...Wlad 238!!!!
Wladdys to skilled of a boxer and smart. He will be very patient and wait for Sultan to make a mistake. Wladdy will capatilize on it and KO him.

Yes but not sparring guys who have the kind of pop Sultan has might be to Wlad's detriment....but then again he never does plan to get hit
I think at 238 he's going to be a little bit faster out of the gate just to thwart any early attack Sultan may have planned...the faster Wlad gets Sultan out of there, the less chances Sultan gets to land a freak punch
Re: Sultan 219...Wlad 238!!!!
Wlad is going to be on Conan tonight....so watch him if you stay up that late
Re: Sultan 219...Wlad 238!!!!
I don't think it's a big deal. With heavyweights, 4-5 pounds is a very small percentage of body weight. For all we know, the scale could have been off by a pound or two, or Wlad could have worn lighter clothing than he normally does on the scale.

fightnews.com
"Both fighters weighed in moments ago for the first heavyweight unification title fight since 1999. IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko weighed 238 and WBO heavyweight champion Sultan Ibragimov scaled in at 219 during a special Thursday weigh-in ceremony at New York City's Madison Square Garden. For Wladimir, this is the lowest he has weighed since his first win over Chris Byrd in October 2000, and 5.5 pounds less than in his previous fight. Sultan weighed exactly the same as he did for his previous fight against Evander Holyfield."
I am not sure what Wlad and Manny have planned to do and I sure as hell hope they figured for him to be this light. This more than likely means Wlad did more stamina training....or at least I would think so
The last time Wlad was under 240 was in the 1st Chris Byrd fight, that sounds worrying.

....Wlad seems to be in fine shape. I think this is all part of a plan...I just hope it works out on Saturday
Re: Sultan 219...Wlad 238!!!!
This should be interesting... Wlad is so strong though I think Sultan won't be able to overcome him.. Wlad is probably the strongest champion I have seen since Foreman... he pushes his jab and yet it still hits like most heavyweights right hand, he also has a left hook that sometimes looks like it barely lands but it ends up knocking his opponent senseless. I just can't see Sultan overcoming this, but Wlad has always had a poor chin which is could change things up... I thought the fight is on Saturday... why are they weighing in today?
Re: Sultan 219...Wlad 238!!!!
Wlads loss to Ross Puritty way back in 1998 i think Wlad was usually mid 230's and was 225 for that fight. Lost by TKO in round 11 of 12. He's recently been mid 240's and weighed in at 238..........hmmm history repeating?

Well when he lost to Purrity he was 21 years old...he was still growing and developing muscles.
He was 238 when he fought Byrd for his first major title....I think he trained hard and it'll pay off for him
