Re: Anyone here play guitar?
I used to play for about 6 years towards the end of high school.. I was self taught just by reading tabs and maybe one or 2 guitar books just to get some of the techniques and finger drills to practice.. I never learn to read normal music or any of the chords.... Which is pretty poor on my part I guess, but as long as you can read Tabs you can still have a tonne of fun..
I had a nice dark purple Jackson with reverse headstock very similar to the one below.
I used to stick mainly to metal - Metallica was my all time favourite to play.. Slayer, Sepultura etc followed... I also had a very nice Marshall 100w limited edition ValveState amp... Sounded great.. Unfortunately, and something that still upsets me today, I went through some really tough money times at one period and had to sell them at a ridiculously upsetting price to a pawn shop... Would do anything to have them back now..
I'm hoping one day I have some spare money and can get back into playing and buy my ultimate guitar, a Les Paul though.. Original if possible although they would cost a fortune... As you said, so versatile and just makes everything sound amazing.. I have played one once, and you just feel that you have a genuine work of art in your hands..

EDIT : Just found a picture of the old ValveState amps and a little article about them... Really rich, warm sounding amps..
