There is nothing that I would say that I don't like... Well, nothing that you guys would ever recommend anyway.. My girlfriend manages to pick the odd one that bore's the shit out of me...
Anyway, even though I don't intend on getting stoned during holidays, the other thread helped as well.

I highly recommend The Thin Man series...all Nick Charles (played by William Powell) does is drink and smoke....and solve crimes.
You can't go wrong with any of the following
Arsenic and Old Lace - a comedy starring Cary Grant
Lawrence of Arabia - very informative about the Middle East and entertaining
Hitchcock movies: North By Northwest(GREAT movie), Psycho, Vertigo, The Birds, Strangers on a Train, Dial M for Murder, and Rear Window.
The Best Years of Our Lives - about how 3 guys and their families cope post WWII...stars Harold Russle a REAL WWII hero who lost both his arms in battle and one of only 2 non-professional actors to win an Oscar.
The French Connection - The story of Popeye Doyle and Buddy Russo and their efforts to stop the heroin trafficing from France to the US.
The Deer Hunter - Another story of life before and after war, this time Vietnam and this time it's not a feel good story either.
And Hamburger Hill is an underrated war movie....and The Lost Battalion is a good World War I flick.
Arsenic and Old Lace is a GREAT movie.. along with french connection, i'd add Bullitt with Steve Mcqueen
and Lyle you hit just about all the GREAT Hitch films but "Shadow of a Doubt" is one of my favorites.. it's probably second after Psycho.. Psycho blew me the fuck away when i watched it and it is my second favorite movie all time.. behind Memento.. So Dizaster if you haven't seen Memento then you haven't lived yet.. The best movie, all around, i have ever seen, and i was a film student for 3 years so there is my attempt at receiving some sort of credibility in this discussion..
Also, Suicide Kings with Christopher Walken was a good flick..
Lyle have you ever seen the movie "Tape"? One of my cult classic favorites.. The whole movie takes place in a single hotel room, it's fantastic.. A setting and environment where your actors are FORCED to act to their fullest, and they come through.
Legion.. you LIKED Secret Window?!?! Is it because you have some sort of man crush on Johnny Depp or is it because you haven't seen Fight Club, Memento, or The Shining (the wife) yet?
that movie was a horrible rip-off and carbon copy of those movies BUT with Johnny Depp..
Yes, I have a huge man-love crush on Johnny Depp. He's a hottie;)
Seriously, I liked Secret Window. Not the greatest movie, but one I just watched and had it on my mind when this thread came up.
I will try next time to discriminate with better movie choices so as to not offend the serious movie critics such as yourself:D
Speaking of great classics, try Circle of Iron;D
Munich was a great movie IMO also.
haha.. not saying that my opinion is 'correct', just wondering how you liked such a shitty movie :lickish:.. I actually worked at a video store at the time it was released, and normally, the general public enjoys all of the bullshit movies, like secret window, and surprisingly a lot of people didn't like it.. I just couldn't enjoy the movie subconsciously knowing how it was going to end, and knowing that it was a rip-off.. just my opinion..
I haven't seen Munich, so i can't comment on that..
My movie collection is at my girlfriends apartment, but the stray movies i have still at my house right above me on a shelf are: Lost in Translation, Pans Labyrinth, I Heart Huckabees, Bottle Rocket, Punch-Drunk Love (top 15-20ish fav of all time) and The Machinist, just to give an idea of movies i liked enough to purchase.. I'm a huge Wes Anderson fan, but wasn't able to see Darjeeling Limited when it was in theatres.. managed to burn a copy of it but the quality was so shitty that it was unwatchable, so i plan on getting it this week.. Especially considering the prequel to it, the Hotel Chevalier short film is on the DVD and you get to see Natalie Portmans bare ass.. Has anyone seen it yet?
I haven't seen "Tape" yet but I will most certainly make a note of watching it in the near future.
My favorite Hitchcock film was "North by Northwest" no wonder Cary Grant was the #1 choice to play James Bond.
Any Abbot & Costello or Hope & Crosby movies are worth watching.
Any John Wayne movie is worth watching...I suggest "The Searchers"
I loved Punch Drunk Love RP33; watched it many times. I don't know why, as it depressed me for some reason:-\
