Re: Hatton signs with Golden Boy
Right now, Golden Boy doesn't really have star attractions fighting for them. I know there is Hopkins and Mosley and maybe Barrera, but they will soon be retiring and there is no one else. What's keeping Golden Boy afloat is Oscar himself, who puts on these mega promotions and mega duds in the ring. What will happen to Golden Boy after Oscar stops fighting?

Re: Hatton signs with Golden Boy
Good move for Hatton,he will make alot of money with Goldenboy as long as he stays at 140. He can unify the titles & forget bout the dismantling of him against Mayweather! INO Hatton can definately bounce back!
Re: Hatton signs with Golden Boy
Golden Boy sure does have a knack for signing guys whose best days are already behind them. ;D
Re: Hatton signs with Golden Boy
The GBP contract will be for big Vegas fights against people like Juan Diaz. Hatton's fight at Man Ciy's ground will be a separate thing.
I don't see Hatton getting equity in the existing GBP corporation. Hatton I'm guessing will set up a company like Warren's and compete with him for fighters and try and produce the next Ricky Hatton, at which point everybody involved makes lots of money. It's a great sales line when Ricky the promoter goes to sign a fighter though -- sign with me and I'll build you a huge fanbase and if you're good enough you can get to Vegas and make tens of millions fighting on my buddy Oscar's cards. Great deal for Oscar too.
Re: Hatton signs with Golden Boy
I hope this means a Witter fight maybe in the pipeline soon. Golden Boy has not been scared of putting it's fighters in together.
As for GBP I think it will be good for the sport! They have already put together some great fights & I think this will only continue.

This means there's zero chance of Hatton fighting Witter.

Hatton is a money-making machine with one of the top two or three biggest fanbases in boxing. He's only got a certain number of fights left and each one is going to be against a champion marketable in the US like Juan Diaz or Pacman. Probably a Floyd rematch too. Every fight is going to be as big as possible and every possible dollar is going to be squeezed from every possible revenue stream from that fanbase. Junior Witter is not marketable in the States and Hatton doesn't want to fight him, so it's not going to happen unless Junior goes to the States and makes himself marketable.

Witter in the UK would make more than a Floyd rematch (that'll never happen, who's gonna pay to see Hatton get owned again?) A fight with Witter at home also makes more than Diaz. Fighting in the states aren't everything, you go where the money is.

That's true. But you got to want the fight. And it's obvious Hatton doesn't want the Witter fight

That seems to be the case, I can't understand why. Has Hatton fallen so far he thinks he can't win. I think it would be a competitive fight. I've said for ages that I thought Witter would win & took some sc for it & although I still believe it it is a fight I wanna see & think it would be entertaining.

Witter isn't a money fight even at two dollars to the pound. No US PPV money, no Vegas casino millions to stage the fight versus the cost of hiring Man City's ground.
