Ponce D`Leon vs Juanma Lpez is done....

de Leon is another version of wild swinging Ricardo Mayorga, without the fanfare. And if you have really seen Lopez, and not judged him by the names you have seen on his resume, but actually seen him multiple times, then you will know the kid has boxing skill and knows what he's doing in the ring. He's been put in there with tough Mexicans who are pressure fighters and KO'd them. And though they may not be on the same level as Ponce, they have provided Juanma with experience. Coupled with Juanma's power (19 ko's in 21 fights), this fight is going to be a ko one way or the other.

No longer like Ponce, got excited when I saw him spark out Bautista, but having atched a number of fights, his strength and fitness is overshadowed by the neglect of any technical or stylistic plans

YEAH BABY, Juanma will beat Ponce and Puerto Rico will have yet another champion. Good times for PR, good times....

Something tells me that after PDL beats JuanMa we'll see PDL vs. Caballero II.

You can run into PDL almost daily in Huntington Park (which is where his business is) and you can ask him what's the 1 fight you want the most?
He'll answer: Celestino.

Th only thing that i see Ponce getting advantage against Juanma is by the experiences that's all , if Juanma comes focus , good shape , I'm sure guys these going be KO fight like Rican said one or the other, i guarantee guys this kid going be the next Champ , he has all that require for be a Champ , has a good talent......;)

Caballero is a sloppy fighter. He's going to get KTFO if he fights De Leon again. I'd rather see De Leon-Penalosa rematch.

I think Caballero's just got Ponce's number, he may look like a sloppy fighter but he's akward and effective.

And I'm not sure about the Lopez/Bautista comparison. Yes in that maybe they were thrown in too quick, but I think Lopez has a chance to be a special fighter, whether he was thrown in too early or not I don't think Bautista ever looked like he was going to be a future star. Not sure he would have ever been ready.

Safe pick maybe Ponce but I think Lopez can pull it off. Hopefully he doesn't have chin issues.

How do you figure? Lopez has KO'd 19 of 21. Ponce may be known for KO's stylistically, and I would probably give him the edge because of this, but Ponce should not be underestimating Juanma's power.

Lopez has shown good power. I never once said he didn't have any. And your right. De Leon does have a lot of weakness. But a bad chin ain't one of them. How's Lopez chin? Nobody really knows. De Leon is the wrong guy to try and find out against.

Your right but DeLeon has trouble with anyone whose got good technical skills... look at his fight with Escobeo that was a close fight IMO & Escobedo is no Lopez!

Caballero would beat DeLeon again IMO but I too would like to see a Penalosa rematch

Careful, if De Leon summons the spirit of his grandfather he's gonna KTFO of Lopez. :p

I just read in a local newspaper that Daniel Ponce de Leon (34-1, 30 KO)will be defending his title against young Puerto Rican prospect Juan Manuel Lopez (21-0, 19 KO) on Jun 07 on HBO.

I have my heart with Juan Manuel, but I have to admit that this will be a tough night for him. However, no matter the result I believe that this fight promises to give us a great night for boxing. Both are great punchers although, DPL has the experience advantage and this is what I see as the biggest disadvantage for Lopez. Lopez has be pacient and avoid crazy exchanges with DPL waiting to counter punch, and avoid the mistakes that Bautista made. If Lopez catch him with a good short right hook, it may be all over for DPL. But, definitely a tough fight for Lopez. I was hoping that Lopez made 2 or 3 fights more before this one, but I will be ready for the action expecting for the big punch.
