Don't even want to see it.
its a sickening story and a real black eye for the sport.
of course Resto knew.he and Lewis should have gotten long long prison stretches. shame on the fucking joke commission too. this was years ago but they`re still as bad ,they consistently have the worst referees in the US.peoples lives are on the line in this sport
I'm 3 rounds in and in hinsight you can hear the weird thuds of Resto's less padded gloves and plaster wraps... I would love for someone to smash that motherfucker in the face with a coal shovel...
If Resto wasnt so light fisted he could have killed Billy in the ring:-\ Sad really fukin sad how those two doosh bags Resto and Lewis can sleep at night
Geezus this fukin fight is brutal, Resto is such a heartless pussy that even fighting with stones on his hands he dosent have enough to KO a brave Collins. Resto is a pathetic little bitch...
The other thing that sucks is Collins, is being Bludgeoned to death and Resto's hands are lighter so he is a bit faster as well...
The last sequence of the fight is chilling, when Collin's father finds out the gloves have no padding, and then panama Lewis says " Thats The Glove They Gave Us" "Thats The Glove They Gave Us" and Resto has enough nerve to Hug and then Kiss Collins, just like Judas... I hope he burns to death
Absolutely disgusting. I knew I shouldn't have watched this. I could only watch little snippets just to get a sense of how much damage was being dealt out. Resto and Lewis are spineless fukin animals. If I saw either in the street I would grab the nearest blunt object and break their legs. You know, just so I wouldn't possibly kill someone, as obviously neither of them give a damn about. what fuking ANIMALS. That was just so disgusting to watch Collins keep fighting, every time he got hit with that shocked look on his face. I can't believe he didn't just pack it in, he probably would have known something was wrong with the gloves but just had too much pride on the line. If I were in any way behind the decision to bann Resto from fighting again, I think I wouldn't, let him keep fighting, the best opponents possible. Line up a promoter who'd put him in with anyone and promise him a good payday then screw him out of every cent. Make him fight with 20 ounce gloves from then on. Pit him against real hard punches, let him die in the ring and see if anyone gives a shit. I'd piss on his grave if possible, this really saddened me, had never seen any footage of the fight. I forwarded to the ending, which was perhaps the most disgusting footage of all, Resto hugging Collins and his team, Lewis "those were the gloves they gave us". If I were Collins dad and thought it even slightly probably that they gloves were tampered with I would have taken the ring stool to Panama Lewis right there. I can't believe there wasn't more of an uproar from Collins sr. after feeling the gloves. I guess he couldn't have known for sure they weren't the ones given to Resto... But like I say, even considering that possibility, having seen what just happened to his son... I don't think I could have kept my cool... YUCK.
And how the hell wouldn't the entire audience, both camps, anyone watching, the ref, have known something was VERY WRONG. Resto was a FEATHER FISTED FIGHTER FFS... AND EVERY PUNC HE LANDS SOUNDS LIKE A BRICK BEING SMASHED. Whatever officials or state commisioners were ringside who had ever seen Resto fight should have been in the ring after the first freaking round demanding the gloves be checked. I suppose the fact that he was such an unheralded journeyman would have meant few people had seen him fight before outside his own camp. Who the hell was this scumbags promoter?? What about chief seconds, cutman, every single person even remotely in the know of what was going on should have done serious jail time. By not entering the ring to DQ Resto, his entire camp were accesories to malicious assault. Even if they didn't know exactly what Lewis had done before the fight started(highly unlikely)
If i was Billy Collins Jr father and i heard my son telling me he feels like he is getting hit by a brick from a feather fisted fighter. I don't care if he would of got him DQ. I would of stormed over the other side of the ring and examined them gloves straight away. And that would of saved his life and stopped him from getting permanent injuries. But its easy saying that now i don't think anyone would believe at the time that someone could do something as cowardly as that.
Yea good point man, I had thought about that before I posted. Clearly it's alot easier to realize something was wrong with hindsight. I suppose that there was nothing done at the time because it was so unprecedented. I still can't imagine that noone thought anything was up though... Just the sound of Resto's punches was sickening. Surely if Collins, or anyone in his camp had seen footage of Resto fight they could have imagined there was something up... Although I do suppose footage of a complete journeyman was harder to come by those days.
Sucks really.
I'm sure Panama & Luis will get what's coming to them.
Well p4pking who would have ever thought about something like this going on especially on a televised fight and all.
Comissions sucked back then let's not forget they "FORGOT" to collect Aaron Pryors posr fight urine sample.... for the 1st Arguello fight.
Sometimes today they still show signs that they need a lot of improvements. For starters anytime a boxer get's KO'ed look at the mayhem that's caused in the the ring. Its like theirs no order and or security. For fucks sake a fighters on the floor passed out the least you can do is maintain order so that the fighter can get the help he needs.
The one incident that quickly springs to mind is Green koing Jaidon. Look at the crazyness that happens Jaidons fucken hand gets caught underneath him and you have people jumping allover into the ring. I notice a lot of things that happen on fight nights that comissions should be more aware and not allow those things to happen.
I watch Benn McClellan regularly.
It stops me having that invincible feeling and often makes me question "woulkd i know something was wrong."
I made myself watch bits of that and man it was horrible. Ive read and heard loads about this fight but never seen it until now. Big respect to Billy Collins for lasting till the bell cus he took a beating. R.I.P.
I know some people were interested in knowing more about the film so I thought I'd post this...
