Come on dude, don't blame the sport for the retards that get too involved. I like a good tear up and there's alot in both sports. Some guys make MMA a lifestyle rather than a sport. What a gem of a post!

I like mma and it has its fair share of very talented individuals. The one thing I don't like about it right now is that it seems to be attracting an awful lot of white trash fighters who are tatooed from head to toe. and the kicker is that Dana White seems to be prmoting that on shows like TUF. These guys act like pure dirtbag retards. the true greats of the game, however, the Mirkos and NOGs and GSPs and Fedors and Coutures, aren't like any of them. Those morons are hurting the image of the sport. That's the one thing that makes me cringe...not the beaty and elegance of a well exceuted BJJ or judo or muay thai game.

While the point you make about some jocks not being able to let go of their "Glory Days" (yes much like the Springsteen song). Those people do not make up a majority of the athletes in those respective sports OR a large enough part to create their own stereotype apart from the universal stereotype of the jock who can't get over being too old to play anymore.


MMA fans ARE pricks....I've seen and met too many people which fit that stereotype to think any differently about them.

I hate MMA and I pretty much dislike right off the bat anyone who fits the stereotype of the MMA fan. Guys grow up, you basically like WWE except maybe without any chicks in there

MMA merges the worst possible elements of boxing fans, wrestling fans, WWE fans, muscleheads, and middleclass pretty boys who have no fucking right to be angry about anything.....it's like why white kids in the suburbs like rap....it makes no God damned sense and is born out of anger and arrogance and ignorance.

I watch both, but boxing is and will always be my first love. There's nothing like watching a good boxing match. You only need to look at stuff like the Marquez/Vasquez trilogy to realize that boxing is much more exciting than mma. Ask yourself, what got the goosebumps going, Shamrock/Cung le or Marquez/Vasquez?

Really though Lyle, I don't think its mma you hate. You just need to find some different bars to hang out in. You know everybody turns into a badass when theyre drunk. Go to some that aren't "meat markets" and you'll probably find less adrenaline filled jackasses. I still don't see the tie in with mma. Thug life is boxing all day long. Look at some profiles of mayweather fans on myspace or just time in 2 google and see how many cockroaches like baller come scattering about...

Everyone knows that Mayweather wishes he could be like 50 cent.. Personally I think Mayweathers crappy freakshow of an attitude is a skidmark on boxings undies... Boxing doesn't need to be associated with Gansta Rap or Ghetto, but Mayweather is simply a try hard that wishes he was black... Oh woops, he is black... I love boxing, I've immersed my life in it. I live it and I wouldn't be me without boxing.
But competing in boxing has made me respect mma.

They're both combat sports, both risk injury, in mma to the limbs, and body primarily, in boxing to the cranium primarily, both sports require you to dehumanise yourself. Both deserve respect.

Yes but Boxing has been around long enough and been the focus of attention for so long (granted it has slipped since the days of Ali and even the days of Lewis) but it's been around it has had plenty of personalities and for every Panama Lewis there is an Angie Dundee....for every Luis Resto there is a Carmen Basilio or Rocky Graziano or Gene Fullmer or Gene Tunney.

As for MMA their fans aren't knowledgable, they only like the spectical of the sport and not the actual sport itself. They like the MARKETING and not the martial arts.....and those are the people I dislike and that is a LARGE portion of their fanbase.

It's not where I hang out.....there are those types of people EVERYWHERE....they don't have designated boundries. I do avoid the dance clubs as that is where they love to be, around the hoochie mamas and some place where people won't laugh in their face for drinking their vodka and cranberry juice (which is a Cosmopolitan minus the Triple Sec).....maybe we could put a little umbrella in there too.

I haven't liked MMA, I do not currently like MMA, and I will not in the future like MMA.

Chuck Liddel = crap boxer....I know you guys like calling it "striker" but that is gay....is boxing a "Martial Art" well then why don't you fucking call it BOXING when they stand up and punch each other???? Nah we'll call it striking maybe because we like to be new and different :beat: ......Chuck Liddel vs Jackson showed me all I needed to see as far as how technically skilled those fighters are.....and yeah I've taken a glance at "The Ultimate Fighter" and those guys are FAR from Ultimate fighters....they are muscleheads and for no reason they all have huge chips on their shoulders
