Re: Froch CONFIRMED mandatory to fight Calzaghe!
What would be good id if Joe fought this guy.Got rid of him and fought Roy Jones in Wales something Jones never wanted to do but now with the tables turned I believe Jones would go.
Re: Froch CONFIRMED mandatory to fight Calzaghe!
Calzaghe has reached the stage of his career where mandatories and sanctioning body belts don't mean anything. He's fighting the opponents who will bring the biggest purse and who will do the most for his legacy.
Re: Froch CONFIRMED mandatory to fight Calzaghe!
Joe's pretty much said that he's got one fight to go, and Warren recently announced that there are only three possible opponents being looked at, and those are Roy Jones Jr, Antonio Tarver and Kelly Pavlik, with Jones Jr their favoured option.
All the move to make Froch the mandatory does is mean that Froch will get to challenge for the vacant belt when Calzaghe decides that he can get it off the mantlepiece and send it back to the WBC. As HattontheHammer said, the fight would mean little for Joe's legacy, and wouldn't make as much money as other fights against bigger names.
If this happens I'll cut off my left testicle, fry it up with some liver and onions, and eat it for supper the day before the fight.
Re: Froch CONFIRMED mandatory to fight Calzaghe!
Froch is way to easy to hit Calzaghe mite even stop froch late or win an easy UD.Froch is a good puncher but dont see him been able to land that many on Joe.

The guy has said endless times he`ll fight calzaghe anytime/anywhere, he also isnt the kind of bloke who`s gonna spend endless weeks bear baiting calzaghe into fighting him and is quite prepared to go through his career without having JCs name on his CV.
I for one wouldnt half mind seeing this one go down, i still though believe that froch would need 2-3 big fights before taking on JC and for timeframe reasons i dont see it happening!!
He was offered the fight after Calzaghe beat Bika and turned it down. Manfredo ended up fighting Calzaghe instead after Froch bottled it. Froch is an overrated bullshitter.

i just dont see it mate i really dont
why would froch turn down the biggest pay day of his life to continue fighting in arenas in and around nottingham??
why would calzaghe pick out froch ahead of his usual mandatory challengers, what would he possibly have to gain by fighting a guy whos 23-0 and still doesnt have much recognition stateside???
too many gaps in this rumour for it to be true if you ask me!!

Either that or the money offered from the Calzaghe camp wouldn't cover his busfare from Nottingham to Wales and back.
Re: Froch CONFIRMED mandatory to fight Calzaghe!
He was offered it after Manfredo for the summer. It would have been Froch's biggest purse, both parties agreed the purse offered by Warren actually happened, but that it was unclear about 'options' on Froch's career afterwards. Options or not, you get a free shot at the no.1 in the division you take it, or go back to Nottingham and shute the fuck up, unfortunately Froch did neither.

"I would have loved to fight Calzaghe in July and could have been ready. I could have gone back into training next week, but I don't think Calzaghe and his team wanted to risk sampling the power of my right uppercut!
"His promoter made an offer to me that I felt was derisory. They also turned down a very generous offer of £1.6 million from my promoter Mick Hennessy, which valued the fight at twice their amount if you work on the standard terms of the split for a purse bid.
FROCH HAS SURGERY | Sporting Life - Boxing News | Joe Calzaghe, Amir Khan, Ricky Hatton, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, Miguel Cotto.
If Warren had made an offer that paid Froch nothing to fight Calzaghe, that still wouldn't have been "derisory." Instead he got offered a couple of hundred thousand and turned it down. If Froch actually believes he's as good as he claims he is, he would have got in the ring, KO'd Calzaghe and become an overnight superstar with million pound purses for all his subsequent fights.
A real fighter would have snapped Warren's hand off. Calzaghe netted less than £50 000 for the Eubank fight and Eubank made less again for his chance against Benn. Real fighters take their opportunity and use it to propel them to stardom. Froch bottled it.
And the £1.6 million offer is just dissembling, I'm sure you know why. Basically just a load of bs to cover up him bottling his big opportunity. Froch knows what he's capable of and that's why he didn't take the fight.
