Ledderman hasn't been a good judge in a few years, and Emmanual Steward may be a good trainer, but he is the most biased SOB I've ever seen.

Well said...Have some rep.....
It has been my experience that people who listen and fall into what the announce team says are the casual fans who have not been following the guys fighting long enough to make a real assessment for themselves...Or they just don't know enough about the sport in general to make assessments...The people who fall into the trap of believeing everything the announce team says usually feel that...
These guys are pros at what they do and see 1000's of fights so they must know what they are talking about...and that they are paid to be non biased so they must not be one sided..
Happens in a lot of sports not just boxing....
Steward is a 1 sided mofo though....IMO the best non biased guest commentator they have had in years is Roy Jones....He pretty much calls it as is

Probably why he's not there anymore... Which is a shame, Roy jones really was a good comentator, they were crazy to bring in Lennox as a replacement imo.

As much as I love Lennox as a fighter I agree he was not that great of a commentator...Though he was getting better as time went on.....Roy was pretty good and IMO could have stayed as a full time part of the team...Sure the hell would rather listen to him then Kellerman

+1. Jones was great commentator and I hope he eventually finds his way back into that role. I even liked Foreman, but Jones was the best.

Uhh... K, glad to know I'm on your mind. Hope you realize I've only neg repped you twice, and this time was simply overdue for the last. I only bad repped you because your a bad poster, don't feel too bad. But hey, whatever, I've never had a real debate with you about anything, probably because YOU have little boxing knowledge other than to try and degrade a specific few fighters whenever you get the chance, maybe then you'll make a post about how great Trinidad was compared to anyone else, and then dissapear for a few months. Who really cares. chump.

I was rolling in one fight Lewis was commentating (can't remember which) where he said "he needs to not get hit so much" I just wanted to say thanks for the insight.
Re: Do people on here still see what HBO tells them to
I remember a thread that was funny awhile back about the HBO guys, and if I'm not mistaken, was before Oscar-Floyd 1. Anyway, the thread stated-Which would be said 1st-
1- Sizzling left hook from Jim Lampley
2-Steward talking about a fighters amatuer background
3- Cant quite remember, but I think it was Merchant calling a fighter by the wrong name.
The HBO guys are way off sometimes, but I think it's hilarious, and adds entertainment. I will admit, "left hook from De La Hoya", that clearly missed, gets old after awhile, but I watch the fight, and judge for myself. In their defense, It would be hard, commentating on that many fights, and not getting caught up in a few, and almost cheering for your favorite.

Ha ha ha....I have heard Lennox say that more then once...I remember on the undercard of one of the PPV events there was a couple of guys who I can't rememeber their names even but bother were in the ealry 20's and tough kids....The one kept getting hammered by straight rights but he woulld walk right through them...Kind of a take 2 too give one type guy....Come the 8th round this kid was beaten and bloody but kept coming for more until he finally got dropped and was pretty much out cold....So to make a long story short Lamply is going
"I don't think he is going to get up from this one"
Lennox responds with
"Which really surprises me because he seemed to be taking them, well all night, His style is one where he takes too much punishment but the fans seem to like it"
Lamply responds
"Its great to please the crowd but sometimes you have to know when to go toe to toe and when to box more"
Lennox replies
"I don't think that is so much the problem as him not making it to the end of the fight"
I thought I was watching an episode of boxing for real:-\

Re: Do people on here still see what HBO tells them to
They cheerlead, its not a breaking story, the way its been for a while and it will continue to be.
Their ODLH commentary the other night was typical HBO cheerleading, like Amat said ODLH looked a bit old to me.
Re: Do people on here still see what HBO tells them to
I actually like Lampley, I think he has a good voice for commentating on fights, but his knowledge is lacking and he is far to outspoken on his opinions.
I don't respect Larry Merchant, he trys hard to make classic summations, doesn't work.

I like Larry for his crazy comments and actions...Not for his commentating but he is good for a laugh...
EG-After Calzaghe Manfredo he actually said something to Joe about why he is fighting guys like Peter and not legit title threats....
Joe replied that it is not him who makes the fights but Warren...
Warren steps over to the Mic where they were talking and as he starts to say something Larry starts talking over him and actually refuses to let Warren talk...Then says outloud about Warren makind shitty fights and gave him a dirty look....I almost pissed my pants at the look on Warrens face....He was embaressed....The there is the classic when he attacked the fan......
You never know what he is going to pull after a bottle of Sneaky Pete in the dressing room:D
