Do you mean now as opposed to prime? Seeing as you like compiling odds - how would you price it up?
I wouldn't have this out of the park odds, but I would have the following
RJJ = -200 = 1/2
Calzaghe = +175 = 7/4
I would move these as I see training sessions etc.
As for prime I would have had
RJJ = -500 = 1/5
Calzaghe = +400 = 4/1
somewhere in that neighborhood.
I agree with your prime odds.
But the current odds, should the fight happen, will most certainly be the OPPOSITE of how you have it.
I think Roy will be worth a bet as underdog.

I think it's a 'pickem' - I really don't see JC walking through Jones even now!!

Prime Roy would have beaten Joe.
Is that OK?

You could certainly make a case for making the odds opposite, however, what I'm looking at now is this the biggest guy calzaghe will have ever faced, and has the ability to land inside Joe's flurries, that's how I see it.
I know most of the UK bookies have it
Joe = -350 = 2/7
RJJ = +250 = 5/2
I gotta call it as I see it though. The big question here is can Joe fight going backwards, no way he pushes back Jones.

Anyway amoungst all the Bullshit, I for one am excited about this fight and see it being very competitive now, but a landslide for Jones back in the day

Re: RJJ V CALZAGHE. in works for November 15, Cardiff, Wales! ~
The real difference, prime for prime, is that Jones had real power. He was KOing very good quality LHW's where as Calzaghe only stops average fighters and wins decisions against his toughest challenges. That doesn't mean Joe isn't a great fighter, but it would have cost him in a fight with prime Jones. Even though I think Joe matches with his handspeed and is a more adaptable fighter, the extra power and better counterpunching of Jones would have carried him.
Now, I gotta give the edge to Calzaghe, but 8 years ago, no way.

Remember the same thing being said when hopkins and trinidad fought eachother. Styles can be very deceiving.
If the 2 boxed eachother tommorow:
Calzaghe by UD
If the 2 boxed eachother 6-7 years ago:
Jones jr by late stoppage
if the 2 boxed eachother each in their absoloute prime:
Id have to say RJJ by a split decision

Hopkins and Trinidad could both punch though, and Hopkins was the bigger man. Roy could punch with the best of them in his prime, now he can still crack a little, and is still the bigger man. Joe Calzaghe, if he ever had any real power, only did so in the very beginning of his career and hasn't shown it in years. It's not as though Joe could surprise everyone and adopt the role of a power puncher vs Jones. He can't punch, not about to change. It's not out of the question he could hurt Roy, but that would involve Jones growing even older and having much less than he showed even against Tito imo, for Joe to actually do damage with individual shots.

Re: RJJ V CALZAGHE. in works for November 15, Cardiff, Wales! ~
This fight today does not hold any interest to me whatsoever, its a way by the both of em to make a crapload of cash. Cal has probably 1 or 2 good fights left in him and fighting todays roy and beating him does not do much for him I think, how did roy beat tito and all of a sudden is considered so good again. I'm pretty sure calzaghe will basically outwork roy and make it look better than he did against bhop. Roy and cal hit their primes at different times and in their primes roy would have took a ud I think,but there is no way that roy would just walk through calzaghe, because nobody walks through calzaghe, you can say calzaghe has never faced anyone like roy, then again roy has never really faced anyone just like calzaghe.

Calzaghe has to be an underdog in this matchup, even with jones at 40.

If calzaghe wins it would be a great setup for Pavlik.
