Re: when is it appropriate to score a round 10-10???
I cant remember ever scoring a round even to be honest. I try to subjective with 4 main criteria
Control of the ring
Aggresion
Volume
Effectivness
But this seldom works. It is boxing afterall crazy things happen in that ring.Boxers having haircuts in the mid-rounds .
I tend to just go with the flow and weigh up every round how i see it.
I would score it a draw if both fighters stood feet planted in the centre and landed exactly the same amount of punches with the same force.Otherwise there's always something you can give to one fighter.

See this is where the argument gets interesting.
Ive seen countless times when said boxer has been out scored on terms of punching shots all round yet in the last 30secs land a telling blow.
Do the judges go with who landed the more scoring shots or which were most telling???
Re: when is it appropriate to score a round 10-10???
I tend to go with who was controlling the rounds. If it's close I go with who executed their gameplan better based on their styles. So I judge differently if they are fighting as a volume puncher, counter puncher, power puncher, defensive wizard etc.
A 10-10 round should be reserved for super rare rounds where the action is very close and both fighters have their way for even duration of the round. If you are a judge than that's what you are there to do, pick a winner. Barrera and Morales had a few rounds I could justify scoring even and Vazquez-Marquez as well. But it definately should not be the norm, and should only be awarded to rounds that both fighters put up effort. In feeling out rounds someone will be doing less than the other. Even in hard to score fights like Calzaghe Hopkins I didn't have any even rounds.
