Margarito can't a straight punch to save his life, as you will see on July 26, Cotto throws much tighter, sharper punches, and IMO hits harder. Cotto is a much better boxer, and he is a much better body puncher. I think Cotto poses a way bigger problem for Oscar than Margarito would.

The thing I think that makes OScar not want to fight MArgarito, and I am not sure if everyone knows this is that Margarito used to be Oscar's sparring partner, and so what is the point in fighting a guy who you didn't really have that much of a problem with. Oscar is always searching for the most difficult fight, most interesting fight he can, and thats why he wants Cotto.

Regardles I think Cotto wins this one. ODLH clearly is waaay past his best.

He wasn't clearly beating Mayweather when he stopped throwing jab, stop being delusional. He was hardly landing the jab, and Mayweather was countering it with right hands several times, and Oscar wasn't effective at all with Mayweather against the ropes. While Mayweather was picking apart his defense by potshotting. Mayweather was up 4-3 by the 8th when Oscar stopped throwing his jab, and from that point on Oscar didn't win a round.

As for the stamina Oscar always faded late in his toughest fights, Trinidad, Hopkins, Mosley x2, now Mayweather. Oscar doens't have horrible stamina, its just hard to go 12 full rounds fighting how he does.
Cotto had difficulties with Mosley for whatever reason, he was clearly in control of the fight, and whether it was a cut or whatever he took his foot off the gas and was bullied for 2 or 3 rounds before he came back in the 11th.

As for good legs? What does that mean exactly? Oscar showed great movement against Hopkins, against Trinidad, against Mosley in their second fight. Since moving up from the lower weight categories he has had as good of a chin as anyone.

Sure Oscar is a little slower(not that much slower), sure he doesn't quite have as much power, but he does have a lot better defense, and larger tool box in terms of punches he throws well, and he still has that desire in the ring, still has great handspeed, chin, boxing skills, jab, etc.

I would say Oscar now would match up a lot better against the 2000 version of himself than most of you guys seem to think.

Oscar has shown in his fight against Forbes that he can fight a decent pace over 12 rnds without fading...So the stamina problems isn't there if he prepares himself accordingly...

Not to forget that both guys are leftys fighting orthodox...which makes the left hook their main weapon...only Cotto goes to the body and Oscar is a headhunter...

Really? Oscar's hardest punches against Forbes were his left hooks to the body from my point of view, and he did more work to the body against Mayweather than he was able to upstairs. Oscar has always been a good body puncher, not a great one like Cotto, but a good one at the very least.

I think Cotto is the best option for DLH should he get by Margarito. There is no one else that would be as big a draw for Oscars last fight around the weight!

Other than Pavlik & Cotto there are no other super fights around for De La Hoye. I don't think Pavlik is an option for Oscar after what happened against Hopkins at 160.

I think Mosley-De La Hoya, or Hatton-Oscar in early 09 would work. or even Pacquaio vs DLH as far stretched as it is could happen, I mean nobody expected Mayweather to move up to 147 let alone 154 to fight a guy like Oscar.

I'm not 100% sure if DLH struggled to get to 150. But I remember reading an interview leading up to the Forbes fight where Oscar was saying he was struggling to get to 150. Either way I think a catch weight of 150 would be fair to both guys.

Taeth as for DLH/ Mosley I think that could be another potential match-up but Cotto beat Mosley although by the narrowest of margins IMO so Cotto with his following & victories is still the better opponent for Oscars last fight IMO.

Oscar want Dec 6 to be his last fight so I don't see a Hatton fight happenening but who knows? How many other fighters have comeback?

I dont have this fight in my mind , this fight is out of match , Oscar just can reach to 154 pnd......

Although , Cotto can defeat to Oscar in WW and JMW , Oscar dont has the same Style when fought with Trinidad , he now has to step up to fight with less movements to avoid getting tire , he changed since that fight and that is his disadvantage against Cotto , now if we would see Oscar fighting Cotto in that time probably would get more chance to win , by his good footwork , a consistence lateral movement , his good jabs and technicals combinations skills etc......

I don't think Cotto stops DLH, he may even be slightly behind on the cards going into the second half of the fight. But then DLH will fade as he tends to do & Cotto will take over.

Maybe he has a different 42 fight resume that you have seen I have not?

I should refraise what I said, Margarito couldn't throw a good straight punch if his life depended on it. His jab is slow, I have no idea why CIntron had such a terrible time dealing with it, and his cross ... don't even get me started. His hooks are wider than the moon's orbit. The only "straightish" punch, and the only punch I see him being effective with is his uppercuts. Thats his bread and butter, and thats the best punch he can land.

ALso who has Margarito foughten, and beaten besides Clottey(who was beating him before he broke his hand)? Kermit Cintron? AM has proven less in the boxing world than Mayweather has proven in the MMA world. Regardless everything that he does that gives Cotto problems will not give Oscar problems, Oscar is taller, faster than Cotto, and he is far too slick, fast, skilled for a guy like Margarito to beat him, just look at Mayorga for evidence. This type of fighter isn't a challenge for Oscar.
