Re: Why do people compare PBF to SRL
I have a hard time with Hatton as the best win i doubt Hatton will even go in the HOF he is over raided a bit he rides on the one great win a bit much and 147 he just looked bad. Not saying PBF would not have kicked his ass at any weight would of but i think Hatton has been overrated alot by people because of that one win but thats just me.
Re: Why do people compare PBF to SRL
I believe that Leonard would beat Floyd but I wouldnt say they are uncomparable because Floyd started off as a lower weight fighter. Remember who was the 1st person to beat Leonard! It was Duran who had just moved up from lightweight.
Re: Why do people compare PBF to SRL
Most of the reason i belive for the reason that SRL lost to Duran was he decided to brawl if he would of boxed still feel he would of won taht fight.

ME too.
I think people compare fighters to other fighters of old like maybe even Hatton to Duran on style alone sometimes in and out of the ring; like
Floyd to SRL on style and being smart asses to the opponents, weights probably dont enter their minds.
Like Im sure most think like .. Ali at his best, fighting a top Floyd ;just on style, at any imaginary catch weight, so long as their game wasnt effected or their chin; skill ,heart and stamina and style only.

Duran also lost the 2nd fight because he was ill i looked at his training footage before the fight and he was as flat as a pancake, he certainly wasn't ready for the fight. And thats why he wanted to pull out but Don King wouldn't them because of the money involved or something like that.

Great thing about classics like SRL-Duran is that both fighters always end up getting the same recognition for the classic regardless of who beat who.
Arguello-pryor, barrera-morales, castillo-corrales - I remember them fights for seeing 2 great fighters at a time puting on a spectacle for us fans and rarely go into the details of who actually won.
I genuinely cannot think of a single occasion ive seen floyd fight and either been intensely excited or under the impression he is unbeatable hence why i`ll always rate leonard higher
Re: Why do people compare PBF to SRL
Floyds holds wins over 2 ATG fighters at most. Past prime ODLH, and possibly Hatton if he finishes his career an atg.
Sugar Ray holds wins over at least 4 ATG fighters Duran, Hagler, Hearns, Benitez.
Floyd is a great fighter with a good resume. SRL is a great fighter with a great resume.
Re: Why do people compare PBF to SRL
I agree that PBF being the current great and having ended his career at WW now he is being compared to past great WWs instead of past SFW or LWs. In all honesty a better comparison would be PBF vs Mosley at LW or PBF vs Oscar at LW.
Fighters are often wrongly judged by the fights they had at the end of their careers at weights they don't belong in the first place. As good as Oscar was at welterweigh, he was much better at the lighter weights. Other fighters like Trinidad are also judged like this.
