Re: Hatton's next fight in Vegas - cheaper for the fans?
I am a little surprised that the fight is headed for Las Vegas. Paulies fanbase (if there is one) is probably based in New York. It would be better for Hattons fans fiscally if the fight was at least in New York too. And didnt Ricky say he wants to fight in MSG before he retires?
To an extent the diehard fans that want to see Ricky fight live are being fleeced.
Re: Hatton's next fight in Vegas - cheaper for the fans?
How much say does Ricky have on the venue though? Thats what I'm trying to figure out here

It was a money thing but hay if he fights Manny next year in London im happy.
Then Hatton should not claim it as cheaper for his fans coz obviously the UK fight is the cheapest...
Paulie declared that he can fight Hatton in UK just like what they have done in their last doubleheader in Manchester last May...
There is only so much Hatton can control.
Re: Hatton's next fight in Vegas - cheaper for the fans?
a few weeks ago they were saying NY would be cheaper for the fans and there would be more direct flights from UK so better all round.
Now this ? I agree it is bullshit.
If Vegas thinks it will be same turnout as last year they are grossly mistaken. Malignaggi is Vauxall Conference next to Mayweather and with things how they are at moment in UK financially, theres no chance of 20 thousand going across, no chance.
Hell a lot of those I bet are still recovering from the expense of last year's trip. I blew just over 2k on that trip and theres no way I would consider spending anything like that again - the best Brit fighter against the best in the world was all it needed to sell it and I knew I just had to be there. A vast contrast to this fight.
At least NY would have been different venue, shorter flight etc.. - and die hard Ricky fans would love to see him fight at the Garden !
This is a bad move for the fans if you ask me
Re: Hatton's next fight in Vegas - cheaper for the fans?
Everyone seems to be getting on Hattons back for fighting in Vegas but for years britain has waited for a fighter that can top the bill on regular occasions at the biggest stage in the US we have only had Lewis lately and Hatton is doing this.I dont see a problem as long as he has his last fight in britain.
Re: Hatton's next fight in Vegas - cheaper for the fans?
Hatton is such a fake bastard it's laughable (or maybe it's his Dad) :beat:
He's fighting in Vegas for the "fans sake" ;D
What happened to the Powderpuff fight (which is average at best) making such good sense because it would allow Ricky to realise one of his dreams - topping the bill at Madison Square Garden ;D

He's got all the say in the venue. He said when he signed the Golden Boy contract that he had control over the venue for his future fights so that the 3500 tickets/Mayweather scenario wouldn't be repeated. What's happened is that some Vegas casino has made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

I don't think anyone begrudges him taking the money from Vegas, what people are pissed at is that he is also taking the MICKEY with his 'for the fans' comments .
Re: Hatton's next fight in Vegas - cheaper for the fans?
agreed Bomp - and cheers for the rep ;)
and as someone points out above - what happened to his wanting to top the bill at MSG before he retires ?? Fair play he wants to make as much money as he can before he goes and the $$ of Vegas must have been tough to resist but with a farewell v Pacman at Wembley he will rake it in big time and he knows it
hope no one goes as they are saving for a top notch Wembley ticket like me :)
had it been NY I was there - not just for the fight but would have put a longer trip round it (always fancied doing the Rocky stairs in Philly ;D) - so guess I am bitter about that :-\
Re: Hatton's next fight in Vegas - cheaper for the fans?
Both Hatton and Joe should have their last fights in the UK, whenever that may be against lower grade UK fighters, Witter and Froch.

As I originally thought, New York/MSG is cheaper than Vegas since its the shorter flight... So much with "cheaper for the fans"...
I have doubts on Team Hatton decisions as of late, first proceeding with Paulie instead of PAC in November then Vegas instead of New York... Boxing politics again?
.
Re: Hatton's next fight in Vegas - cheaper for the fans?
i aint gonna get excited abt the Paulie fight, defo wont be flying to vegas for it, just like Mark TKO i am hurting financially form my last trip to vegas for the calzaghe fight.:(

New york flights might be cheaper but when you add the price of hotels New York is more expensive than Vegas.

The reality is either Vegas or New York, it's not cheap for Hatton fans. If he's really doing it "for the fans" then have the fight in UK. Paulie already declared he's ready to face Hatton in UK.
