I'll lean towards that

Joe Louis is clearly #1 THE GREATEST OF ALL-TIME: 69 (55 KO)-3, 25 successful title defenses, only lost once "in his prime" and only lost to other great fighters (you can discount Schmelling if you like but Charles and Marciano are great), lost 2 years to World War II, and beat some other great heavyweights.
Rocky Marciano is #2 he was undefeated, 49(43 KO)-0-0...say what you will about his era BUT the Rock ducked nobody AND he remained undefeated which is difficult to do no matter who you fight....right Tye Fields??? ;)
I don't discount how great Ali was I just look at his greatness differently...Ali is most definently great and don't take my ranking of him as #3 as a slight I just think Louis and Marciano are better BUT I suppose I'll be fielding in the sad clicks for this one because people get offended when people don't blindly follow the status quo

Larry Holmes. The only thing he lacked was charisma. Would have loved to see a prime Holmes vs a prime Ali.
Re: Second greatest heavyweight of all time, only name one
The only reason I pick these two the way I did is nobody retired undefeated as Rocky Marciano and two Lennox Lewis justified both of his losses by winning his rematches making him The man to beat everyone he has faced.
So mine would be
Rocky
Lennox
Louis
Holmes
Ali
My god Ali at five you should be shot.
Re: Second greatest heavyweight of all time, only name one
Yes you should be but you have that great picture so I will let you off. :p

Gene Tunney also beat every man he ever faced and retired heavyweight champ. He was only ever beaten once and that was by Harry Greb but he beat him back (4 times I think). He is considered more of a light heavyweight though.
