Bit of an anti climax really, same site has now posted this article:
Haye press conference shelved after opponent pulls out
By Ben Carey
Fans eagerly awaiting to learn the identify of David Haye’s heavyweight opponent will have to wait a little longer. Unfortunately tomorrow’s (September 3rd) Hayemaker Boxing press conference at the O2 Arena has been postponed. It’s likely to be re-scheduled for September 16.
In a brief statement, Hayemaker Boxing said: “We were hoping to announce David Haye’s first heavyweight opponent tomorrow but, in a surprise to everyone, the opponent with whom we had a verbal agreement decided to pull out of the fight late last night. That u-turn left everyone in limbo and David and Adam (Booth) decided it wasn’t worth merely announcing the date and venue tomorrow. We plan to send out a press release further explaining the reasons for the cancellation before tomorrow morning.”
Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
I remember a time when embarking on a professional heavyweight career actually involved FIGHTING someone to make a name for yourself. Didn't realise all you had to do was call press conferences to talk shit about other fighters.
Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
That sucks, I was looking forward to seeing who is next opponent was going to be. My think he will probably end up fighting Rahman.

Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
He hasnt even started his heavy campaign yet and hes already a dissapointment;D
Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
to be fair its not his fault that hsi opponent pulls out is it.
Anyone else feel this step up to heavyweight seems doomed?
Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
It is his fault, he has started up his own promotional company and announces a fight before any contracts are signed, its backfired on him and now he looks an amature in the business end.
Why was he making a big press conferenjce when the fight wasnt even signed?
This is a sign of how his heavy career is going to go, unprofessional, that Adam Booth character would be to blame for it as well, he doesnt sem too clued up;D
Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
Rahman's shot, he looked freaking horrible against Toney last time. That would be an easy win. Maskaev is more difficult and I could more easily imagine Haye getting caught but he's slow and doesn't exactly have a rock for a chin. The last thing Haye should do is pick some plodder with a boring style and a tough chin.
Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
;Di dont care who it is im just ready yo see him rip apart somebody so he can take out waldimir
Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
Keep on dreaming
I bet Haye is trying to pull the 300+ pound Shannon Briggs out of retirement

You know what's funny about that? Briggs would be a very dangerous opponent. Briggs is probably the hardest puncher in the division right now. Unfortunately for him that's if everyone was only allowed one punch. But Briggs, even being well over 250lbs, is a very good counterpuncher. Remember how he shut Liakhovich's game down with the counter left hook? Considering how Haye hangs his chin out and the fact that Briggs' chin is actually pretty decent (out of his 5 losses, he only has been kayoed 2 times- 1 time to Lennox Lewis and the other he just got caught while flailing punches against Darroll Wilson in his first loss). On paper Briggs looks like a great opponent to showcase against, but in actuality Briggs is a much taller order than Haye might be able to handle.

I 1,000,000% disagree with your assesment that Briggs is the hardest puncher...we all know Wlad can KO anyone at any time.....I thin Briggs IN SHAPE at maybe 260 is a tough fight for Haye as Shannon can take a shot and give a good one in return but he's not a tough fight for Haye once Haye learns to box. HOWEVER if Haye learns to box he's still introuble with Wladimir.
Briggs has no heart anymore (as if he had one to begin with) and I mentioned his name in disgust. A fight vs Maskaev or Rahman would mean more for Haye. I think a fight vs Golota would mean more than a win over Briggs

What about Ibragimov and Peter?
Against the top guys Wladimir never takes enough risk to KO anyone.
Re: David Haye to announce next HW opponent tomorrow at O2 Arena
He should fight Ibragimov. If he could KO him then that would hype up a Wlad fight. Also, he should of tried to fight Lamon Brewster or even Sergei Liakhovich.
