Re: Guzman fails to make weight
I really doubt it was a lack of discipline that led to him being overweight.
I've never seen Juan Guzman under perform in the ring he always delivers 100%.
It must have been calculated which also explains why he didn't even attempt to weigh again.
I really feel he's looking at Nate as a stepping stone to get to Pacquaio and Marquez and felt that it was more important to be strong and heavy to win the fight than it was to get the belt.
I agree with you VD that he won't have much pop in this fight, but he's one of the slickest boxers in any weight class and has one hell of a chin.
I think he's going to take Campbell to school.
Re: Guzman fails to make weight
damn thats a shame even if he wins the fight he doesnt have nothin to show for it besides a win over nate campbell and thats if he does win and if he doesnt it sets him back a few steps to becoming a champion at lightweight to bad for him its almost a no win situation

I'm going with Campbell. Guzman has nothing to keep him honest with. Campbell knows that. Despite the weight issue I think Campbell is the bigger, stronger fighter. He's going to bully Guzman

I really hate boxers that are unprofessionals... Good that the 3 titles were not on the line anymore... Still I want Guzman to pay a lot of penalty money to Nate...
Props to Nate for agreeing for this fight to proceed... that just give me additional reasons to root for him... Hope Guzman is totally weigh drained...
:lolhaha: Is that right? If I remember correctly didn't Pac lose a title on the scales before?
You can't blame that to being undisciplined, that one was part of PAC growing up... ;)

This Might.....Might.....turn into a track meet.Guzmans hand speed can catch Campbell in some blind spots But Im thinking Nate makes it rough and takes it as well.

yeah he did lose a title on the scales and he got dropped on that fight too. that was then he was trying to make 112 a decade ago.what we are talking about now is the unification of titles at 135. btw, can you make it more obvious of how much u hate pac. this is not even a thread about him.

Yeah very disapointed with Guz cuz its not the 1st time but huge props to Campbell for going ahead with it .
We saw that afew extra pounds is a assive unfair advantage with Castillo - Chico 2. Guz isnt a banger and nate isnt chinny so I doubt we will see a similar outcome but it is an advanatge and an unfair one.
Im switching sides now. I was hoping Guz would dazzle and be the next Floyd but Nates an honest pro and doesnt deserve this

Well Joan can be just looking for a win not minding the belts as if he did win he would be considered as a potential matchup for a bigger name...
I don't know just thinking out loud here...
Credit Nate though for taking the fight as he could have easily turned around and said I'm not fighting. But remember when Chico (RIP) gave JLC the weight advantage? Chico got sparked out.
We'll see what happens...
Yes JLC did have a big advantage but he had a lot of power at Lightweight. Guzman hasn't carried his SBW power up with him to SFW so I really struggle to see him having too much of an advantage powerwise at Lightweight against a natural at the weight. In fact I'd be willing to bet that Campbell will weigh more than Guzman come fight time.

I really think Guzman is something special whilst Campbell we know exactly what he has.
Shame on you for defending this guy. If anything, this shows that Guzman doesn't have the right mentality to be something special. Remember, both the weight issues for both JLC and Chico were signs that they had lost either the drive or the ability to compete at an elite level. If Guzman is shunning the belts and trying use weight as an advantage to beat Campbell and set up better fights, than the guy has no integrity and doesn't deserve our support.
Also, look at the pic, they guy looks weight drained. Good luck being slick if you are drained.
Now I'm REALLY hoping Grandpa Nate puts a hurt on this guy. If he didn't even try to come back a second time, it means he either didn't train right to make the weight, or this was intentional. Screw Guzman.

Exactly right. Fuck Guzman I hope he gets his arse handed to him now. I'm going with Campbell/JMM tonight.

Your comment doesnt really make sense. On the one hand you say he looks completely weight drained and so won't be able to box his normal fight, yet on the other you say he's got an advantage and so you hope he gets knocked out?
It happens, fighters not making weight. I don't think Chico, Castillo or Guzman are fighters who lack professionalism, they have always given everything in their fights. I think Castillo and Chico got to the point where they just couldn't make the weight any more and maybe that's what has happened with Guzman.
I don't know, but I wanted him to win before the weigh in to set up some interesting fights and I still want him to win now.

No you missed my point. Either way, he doesn't deserve our support. He's either a slacker or a scumbag. I added the part about him looking weight drained because you said that you didn't think he would come in underprepared.
I can rephrase quickly, there is no excuse for either reason. Now the fight is cancelled. The weight theory has proved true, and now we know he doesn't have the right mentality to be something special. Now how the heck are all Nate's kids and grandkids gonna eat? ;D I'll say it one more time. Screw Guzman and shame on anybody who defends or supports him. If think he just outgrew the weight you are kidding yourself. He's moving up from 130. Diane said it in another thread. He let himself blow up to 170 between fights. That's unprofessional, at least if you can't take it off by fight time. That's not growth. That's tostones, ropa vieja, and cerveza.
