What is it with the champ emiritus and the respect he has throughout the boxing world?
It was as if he was the Messiah or King arthur having just drawn the sword from the stone I've never witnessed such a bizarre outbreak of love for a fighter before, let alone one who hadn't fought in 4 years.
What did everyone else make of it?
I was gutted for Sam Peter, I really wanted him to smash Klit's face in just to silence all the Vitali manlove that was going on, did anyone else get wound up by it?
I agree 100% it was a bunch of BS...Like he was the Messiah of the sport...Good analogy
The whole emiritus thing is a bunch of shit........
Re: Was the Peter Klitschko fight the most partisan of all time?
I think Peter may have bought into the perceived "Formalities" of fighting King Vitali. He showed no fire. The dancing was all theater, brought back the bad memories of HBO's "KO Nation" and that chessy wrestling atmosphere.
Re: Was the Peter Klitschko fight the most partisan of all time?
I missed the whole ring entrances and all that. I caught it with 1 minute left in the first round. I had some bad food and couldn't watch the begining in time

But yeah, I felt bad for Sam because he really had the cards stacked against him. But goddamn, those 5 legends really bet on the right horse hahaha
Yeah I'm aware it was his adopted homeland but all the great champs urging him to victory were American (who knows what the hell nationality Lennox is)
But imagine if Hatton's next big fight at home that Ray Leonard, Roberto Duran, Wilfred Benitez, Kosta Tyszu and Julio Ceasar Chavez all gave him personal messages of support and urged him to get the win, it would be freaking weird to me :-\

I do not like the white canvas at all! For some reason the white throws me off. It's too bright and distracts me from the fight. Nor do I like white gloves. They give the illusion of hyper-speed and make it harder for me to judge a fight.

It was dizzying. The revolving camera (at times you felt like you were sitting in the cheap seats so far away) added with the blurry canvas had me swaying back and forth ;D.

Congratulations on the most stupid comment in recent memory. That's like saying, Spinks would've beaten Tyson if he hadn't got knocked out. Beating a guy's face so bad that he has to be pulled out by the doctor after 6 rounds impresses me far more than if Lewis had've won a 12 round jab fest. He did a job on Klitchko, look at their faces after the fight and tell me who won.
Say what you want but Lewis backed out of the rematch and I know why and so does he.;)
Yea coming from you who is totally 100 percent unbiased when it comes to the Klitschko's
The fact is Lennox Lewis threw a punch it landed and it cut Vitali Klitschko's eye, people make out it was some sort of freak occurence.
Vitali Klitschko was the one who was holding on for dear life at the end of the 6th round. And it doesn't really matter whether or not Lennox Lewis retired, because he didn't want to end up like other past greats. Losing when he is past his prime, or because he didn't fancy a rematch against Vitali Klitschko.
All that matters is when they fought Lennox Lewis won, and the fact that Lennox Lewis was almost 40 years old. Out of shape and sluggish, and still pulled out the win adds to his greatness, he would be foolish to come out of retirement now.

Because he dominated the sport for a decade, beat everyman he ever faced, was Olympic, British, European, Commonwealth and Undisputed world champion, ruined the only real threat left, inside 6 rounds and because he was way past his best - yes mate I think we all know ;)

I would agree with you all except: after his showing and how shitty the supposed "current champion" was......it really was like he had always been a real title holder and took some time off.
I thought it was a bit theatrical......but Sam Peter's fat ass didn't even attempt to win that fight. Hell John Ruiz would have been a better fight.
All I am saying is this: If you are going to have all that bullshit, you better bring the goods. And it appeared like he brought them.

He was definitely impressive, I just want to know why all the American greats were eulogizing to him?
I know there are no American greats out there right now but surely Foreman, Frazier, Holyfield and Tyson should be supporting one of their own rather than a Russian/Ukraine/German fella?

Seems like we've been waiting awile over here for the "Next coming".If I were Chambers and Arreola though,I would not be waiting on a call from that group.Hey, do you think they asked Lewis to be a part of the coronation ;D ?

Lewis was getting his ass kicked until the cut happened, then the fight evened out a little. Yeah the cut was caused by a punch, but if the cut didn't happen Lewis would never have won.

Lennox Lewis was only losing 4 rounds to 2 and he had his best round, in the 6th round where Vitali Klitschko was holding on for dear life at the end of the round.
Sometimes Lennox Lewis was a slow starter he was behind against Frank Bruno, Ray Mercer, Shannon Briggs, before he caught up with them.
Infact you could make an argument that Ray Mercer, was giving Lennox Lewis a harder fight than Vitali Klitschko did. And Lennox Lewis was not far off his prime against Ray Mercer either.
I like Vitali Klitschko but he gets very overrated for only winning 4 rounds to 2, against an old out of shape Lennox Lewis.
And as for your last comment again its ridiculous, there are no if's in boxing especially when Lennox Lewis threw a punch. It connected and it cut Vitali Klitschko's eye, its not like it was a lucky punch or a freak occurence. You could say what if in any boxing fight in history its just silly logic IMO.

A cut so severe is a stoppage. What don't you get about that? If Lewis was cut that bad it would be stopped also.
Really? what else can you say about it? Tell me for fucks sake because some of these comments are pissing me off
Re: Was the Peter Klitschko fight the most partisan of all time?
Vitali has never been knocked down or out and I don't think it was going to happen that night. It's too bad Hasim Rahman didn't take his win and retire after he knocked Lewis out denying him a rematch after all he did knock his ass out, it was not a win left in a shroud of doubt.
