Re: calzaghe appreciation thread
Calzaghe was a two division ring champ, and most definately in the top 2 for all time super middleweight (leave open debate for him and Jones Jr.)
I respect what he has done in the ring, and will no doubt be remember as one of the all time greats from Wales.
Re: calzaghe appreciation thread
I'll give props to calzaghe hated or not he must be doing something right to be undefeated, champ and gather all this attention. Better controversy than not being noticed at all, there are a ton of boxers who never get a title at all, his long stretch of success over the pond may have been too long and now all of the sudden it seems he desires to be loved and respected by the same "yanks" he now referrs to negativly is too little too late ....fighting guys now he should have fought years ago isn't going to help. I'm not picking him to beat jones but won't think any different about him if that's the case, but there are those who if he looses will try and discredit his whole career off this one fight, it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out
Re: calzaghe appreciation thread
Thing that I find intresting is calzaghe haters will not just try and pick apart joe's resume, which one can do to almost any fighter's resume, but they will try and discredit joe's skill. You may argue that joe hasn't fought the greatest fighter's around but the people that try and argue that joe isn't a very skilled fighter with a great chin I will never get.
Re: calzaghe appreciation thread
Of all the calzaghe fights i've seen thus far, there are only two that i didn't like. Calzaghe/reid and to a lesser degree calzaghe/hopkins, both holdfests. All the rest were pretty damn exciting.
