I also said to my mum other day LOL to my mum i said i think the best way to beat Calzaghe is you have to unload and throw when Calzaghe is throwing he is wide open when he throws because he throws both hands when he throws the pitter patters he has no guard.
If Joe doesnt keep his punches strait and quick.. and goes back to slapping flurries we have seen from fight to fight.. look for a quick roy jones counter strait rights to buzz joe all night in my opinion..
Jones needs to be on his legs and put power in his shots..
with his movement he can controll the pace, and it will be him getting off first bieng so fast..
we know he has the speed to put threes and fours together with the most random of punches following eachother..
if he can keep his pace, and land his shots and move again.. he can secure rounds.. and i dont believe that joe has proven to be a light heavyweight who can take powershots for the time bieng..
I expect if roy is in shape and motivated enough he can win it big time.
I dont think jones has the legs for the 12 rounds against a guy who has a high work rate, but b hop proved calzage does not have the best chin and jones hits harder than b hop and has fought in his prime bigger and stronger men than calzage i think jones needs to make himself the boss early on and try to get joe out of there as quick as possible because his chances diminish with every round.He should come out swining he has the power the fast hands and an opponant who cannot hurt him early on.
I think calzage will win though jones i fear is just in it for the pay day.
I dont think Calzaghes chin can be called into any question. The guy can take a punch and if he gets knocked down then he gets back up. The Hopkins knockdown was nothing. Calzaghe was up on the count of 3 and was pissed off with himself more than any real hurt being involved. The Kessler 4th round shows how tough Calzaghes chin is.Quote:

And Fenster is right that Calzaghes power shouldnt be underestimated. He can crack when he puts the force into his punch. And Jones isnt known to as tough chinned as Hopkins. Jones could get hurt if not actually put away.
I agree with you but what i mean is he can be hurt and put down jones has put down bigger men and is capable of putting calzage away early i dont dought calzages chin against most men but early against jones he should be careful
I do not think calzage can put jones away with one puch i think it would have to be an accumilation of punches so i cannot see calzage stoping jones early in the fight maybe late when jones is tired
You are right. For those early rounds I just know I am not going to enjoy anything in this fight. Watching the first 4 rounds against Hopkins and Kessler was a nightmare for me because Calzaghe didnt really start great in either of those fights. Kessler was nailing Joe with uppercuts in the fourth and of course was nailed in the first by Hopkins.Quote:

Definatly calzage said himself said he underestimated hopkins and did not train as well as he should have i do not think he will make that mistake again although RJJ is not at the same level as B hop anymore in my opinion and calzage knows that so you never no hemight underestimate himQuote:

I think Jones COULD look ok for the first few rounds, he will try his damndest to look like he did when he was younger, which will be his downfall, he will move alot and pot shot and hold for the first few rounds, then he will tire and try the potshoting off the ropes.
Joe just has too much for Roy right now, it would have been a very interesting fight Ten years ago but of all the big fights this year this has to be the One that defines "full gone conclusion" the most.
There is a reason that Jones has had only One fight a year for the past few years and then against nobodys, nobodys moving up in weight, then hasbeens moving up in weight who had been out for a couple a years;D
To go from that kind of opposition and activity to jump in with one of the top fighters in the world is a big ask for a man as far removed from his prime as jones.
Jones lead right worked because the mediocre fighters were intimidated by his speed, they reduced their own workrate for fear of being countered and then while they were thinking Jones would pop out fast random shots at will but the last time we saw that was in the Ruiz fight.
I find the Ruiz fight very sus, ask anyone who wants to put on muscle how hard it is, yet Jones puts on 20lbs in under 6 months time and still looks ripped.
This after he had already been found to use performance enhancers:confused:
How much of Jones lighting hands and reflexes needs to be put in to context with his steroid use??
Jones makes it an ugly fight by holding and loses a decision, he fights like he has been doing and gets stopped.
If i were jones who is bigger and hits harder i would forget dancing around trying to look young i would turn it into street fight and try to finish it inside 4 after that its too late he is to old ,if he does that who knows what will happen could be interesting;D

I dont belive that excuse from Calzaghe . He was facing the best opponent of his career in his American debut . No way would he come in under prepared .
Jones hands are faster than Hopkins so it will be more dangerous for Joe early on but in te later rounds, Jones isnt as good at holding so he will be teh one in trouble when Joe injects his pace .
I normally dont belive excuses either but calzage looked alot slower than normal and did not move as well so i am not sure what to believe but on the other hand you may beay hopkins but you will never look good doing it
Hopkins was Joes perfect foil and thats the way to beat him. Fighting one minute a round and laying against the ropes is the worst way to fight Joe.

For JOnes to win, either keep the fight in the middle of the ring like Kessler did against Calzaghe, or clinch off the ropes. Most important Jones has to be in good enough shape that he can throw 40-50 effective punches a round, and be really sharp with his counters. I think if he can do that he will be able to discourage Calzaghe the same way he discouraged everybody else.
