What if he just wants to learn and compete as an amateur for a few years? He's plenty young.
Read my post again. If he's not going to put in a full effort than yes I advice against it. Amateurs can kick his ass just as well as a pro. If he's going to put in the full effort by all means go ahead. Newsflash sweet heart. Boxing is not a sport you can go in half ass in.
That goes for anyone of any age in boxing.

Boxing is a sport. Regardless of the age you begin at, like all sports, you reap what you sow.
If you pursue boxing you could have a good amateur career as the cut off point is 35.
Don't allow people to dictate what you can and cannot pursue. If you want it make it happen

I had a Kid start at 24, when He was 28 He was British Lt welter Champ but He was a grafter. ;D

Yes He did, when He left me He was 22 and 0 also won the Commonwealth Title and Inter continental Belt.

No kidding,I made a 35 year old a Champ at one of the largest Toughmans in America,and helped make a 29 year old champ at one of the largest Rough N Rowdies in the country.
Its more what you have in your tank then the number on your birth certificate
