That's one of the many reasons why I hate it when hall of famers stay in the ring longer than they should. Back then, I can imagine all the people hyping Larry Holmes as the biggest boxer out there for beating the great Muhammad Ali, that is, an Ali who was passed his prime. It happens often.

Yep they just don't know when to quit. Maybe Ali would have been in far better health now had he just retired then.

I saw the footage on youtube. A perfectly timed punch put Oscar on his ass. It was a good sparring session though. Oscar wasnt hurt bad or anything but he did go down.
Have that on VHS,He got cocky with JCC who was letting him shine a bit,DLH started busting body shots hard and fast.....you could almost hear JCC say,"Ok son..reality check for you ".Right hand on the button:fight:

Well to be fair to Larry Holmes he was pretty green when he was sparing with Ali not like he was prime or anything also i never heard the man brag about beating up on Ali i watch the fight he was taking it easy on the guy i dont get what people hate about Holmes so much many fighters that were less in the talent department have gave Ali problems but we while never know how the fight would of gone because they never fought when both were in prime so kinda up in the air.
